I didn't know about the ban, I posted one author rams after this thread was posted I believe. I believe I'm banned or at least temporarily. None of my tags show up anymore. Can an admin or mod please confirm or deny this please. I honestly only tagged one. If I did another before I honestly don't remember. To be banned after one without warning or knowledge about the ban seems a little unjust and I always tag with usefull tags except this one time. Thanks.

Edit* I only received one warning so it appears it should be temporary but I believe it's been about a week and still can't tag. Please let me know. Thanks.

Creator of the Bungie.Net game Find The SI

OP speaks truth. If a map has the tag '-blam!-', then no one is really going to download it.

Unless, you know, that's your thing.

Rule 6: Respect the Admins

“It’s their website, and they can do whatever the hell they like with it. You’re a guest, and hassling them about how they run things is akin to going round your Auntie’s house and curling one out in her tea-pot.”

IT'S A PUPPY!!!!! IT'S A PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, Bungie, I love how you're going after the inappropriate tags, but you're leaving the stupidly vulgar content that the community creates untouched.

So you're offended by "author rams babies"... But you're perfectly okay with all the screenshots of Kat giving various Spartan player models fake blovvjobs?

You find "author rams blenders" to be abhorrent and vulgar... But you're perfectly okay with all of the (badly-done) p0rnographic anime screenshots that people build from Spawn Points and the like?

"Author rams his mother" is an affront to common decency... But you're perfectly okay with screenshots of black NPCs in campaign, accompanied by descriptions making racist references to KFC and watermelons?

You're horrified and disgusted by "author rams ball gags"... But you're perfectly okay with item arrangements spelling out "GO BACK TO THE KITCHEN" and other sexist and discriminatory explanations?

Your priorities are so absolutely screwed up that I'm not even sure they exist.
This guy has said the smartest thing, to ever be posted on these dumb forums. This is the most true, and mature comment here. Why don't you acknowledge this, bungie?umad?
This deserves attention.
Likely because it's pretty easy to automate a system that detects tags saying "author rams xxxx", but what are they supposed to do about pictures of naked anime girls in Forge? Set up a system that checks the exact coordinates of each object placed on the map in order to determine whether it forms a naked chick? Set up a program that detects the exact time, position, and zoom of the free camera, then checks that against the current positions of every female model in the game being clipped to make sure Kat's can isn't captured?

Also, there's a built in failsafe to those type of things: your discretion. People didn't have a choice as to what crude crap their stuff got tagged with. One of my clips is tagged with "nuggers sux," (sic) which I find appalling. I didn't and certainly wouldn't choose to have such a racist tag attached to my film clip.

When it comes to browsing the file share, you don't have to download or view pictures titled "Kat's Ass" or map variants called "HOT XXX NAKED ANIME GIRL." You can do the same thing I do: move on to the next file in my search results, unless there's someone with a loaded gun to your head saying "DOWNLOAD THIS FILE AND LOOK AT THOSE PIXELS OR I WILL SHOOT YOU!"

Edit: On top of that, I don't think Bungie has ever come out and said "oh and by the way, simulated sex pics? Totally down for that. Now make wit' da boobies!" Pretty sure they're not "perfectly okay" with that. Nice hyperbole to try to cover up for your lack of reason, though.

Edit again: I swear if you say they should sit there and go through each individual file (do a search for "map variants" with "any" for every other category. 20,000 maps come up. I believe this is the maximum amount of results for a search, meaning there's a LOT more where that comes from. And that's just maps) to make sure no one's uploaded inappropriate content, I hope someone knocks you upside the head for being moronically unrealistic.

lolnope.

I still can't post tags on my files. Have I been permanently banned from tagging stuff now?

Yeah, because we all know people are so honest when reporting things and wouldn't just report a clip where they got wrecked, or hell, anything they felt like simply to be a dick. Soon enough, we'd be reading a thread about "abusing the report system? You're banned from reporting files!" leading to more complaining about what Bungie is and isn't doing. That would be on top of the ton of threads that go on about "oh sure Bungie has time to ban me from sharing files with naked anime girls but they don't have time to remove feature x, y and z? THIS IS -blam!- BULL -blam!-!"

Sorry, Cobb, but you can't tell me you have even half the faith in the random jerkwads on the internet required to believe a voluntary report system actually deleting files or causing an author to be fileshare banned would work.

Thank you! Those were really getting annoying.

  • 05.01.2011 10:31 AM PDT

LOL you should have seen my file share 4 months ago. All my files had "author rams (place stupid comment here)" tags.

Hi.

Apparently one-time offenders (and possibly others) can now tag again. Thanks for the mercy, those of the higher powers.

...I still wonder what tag I added that turned into "My Favorite File". The new tag doesn't lie much - it's certainly one of them.

They should either enforce the report system and take down the offensive files, or not enforce either the files or the tags.

Am I bothered by the tag-ban? No. But is it stupidly inconsistent that tags are being moderated while files -- which have much more potential to be offensive -- aren't? Yes.
