Why didn't the Arbiter suffocate? When he goes outside the Forerunner gas mine to chase the Heretic leader, he should have died within minutes. The Arbiter's armour isn't sealed, and niether is a Banshee. And while I don't know the exact composition of Threshhold's atmosphere, but very few gas giants are composed of oxygen and nirtogen.

Rofl, I never knew that was a gas mine ship, I guess I never thought about it. Was it supposed to be fully automated, like those Sentinel-building ships on QZ?

Good question about the Arbiter, maybe the books have that figured out.

The Arbiter has admirable pulmonic fortitude.

There's a small artificial atmosphere-like device around any Elites mouth that isn't covered, but it only lasts for a smaller amount of time.

This is why you can in space in Zealot and Anchor 9.

Maybe shields in the armor can protect you from it.
