Subject: What exactly are Forerunners?

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Human? Another species? How did their technology compare to that of the technology during the age of the Spartan?

I've only read First Strike in the book series and I'm sure reading the rest would help but I've really been thinking about it lately.

The Forerunner were a seperate race who 100,000 years ago were the most powerful and advanced race in the Galaxy. Their technology was well beyond that of the UNSC's with hardlight, interchangeable surfaces, artifical gravity, world building tech, the ability to manipulate evolution etc.

From their Bias point of view and that claim is highly debatable. :)

While the Forerunners are a separate Races they are very very similar genetically to humans and some forerunners think that they are brother races. Though the forerunner look different than humans.

It is directly stated in Cryptum they could alternate realities/universes.

Alongside being able to "grow" ships from a "ship seed."

They were a million+ year old race, almost definitely created by the Precursors, with evidence suggesting they were a brother race to humanity (Forerunner Manipulars (or children) appear to be described as looking almost exactly like humans. Though it has never been directly stated "they look like humans" Manipulars and humans have a so far identical physical description. Adults, due to these things called mutations (which I liken to Spartan augmentation) stray away from the natuural look.)

Online Gaming's pretty much like a zombie movie. There are a lot of mindless idiots roaming around but you find some survivors on the way.

They were supposedly gentically related to humans when they were created by the precursors, but they have over a long period of time been genetically altering themselves.
We dont know what they look like as they seem to spend a lot of time in their armour.

Even then, they all undergo metamorphic changes, so they all look different and have no "default" appearance.

Forerunner is the translated name for the ancient race of enlightened beings that were the creators and builders of the Halo Array, the Ark, and the Shield Worlds, along with the artifacts that were found on the planets Reach, Earth, Sigma Octanus IV, Harvest, Arcadia, Sanghelios, Kholo, and Janjur Qom. All that is known about the Forerunner has been gleaned from these various artifacts. The predecessors of the Forerunner are thought to be another alien race, known as the Precursors. The alien faction known as the Covenant worshiped the Forerunners as gods, deriving much of their technology from Forerunner artifacts found throughout the galaxy, and believing any who mutilated or destroyed these relics to be heretics.[1] The Forerunners themselves were a bipedal species with five-digited hands[2], but this may have been Cortana's interpretation of the evidence

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

Precursor's made them. We don't know why. No biological relation to humans

Yes there is, young un-mutated forerunners look very similar to humans. It is only when they mutate that they only have subtle physical similarity's. Hell the main difference between the two would have to be height seeing how Bornsteller's father is 13 freaking feet tall. Splendid dust's "atavistic pattern" was more natural and probably closer to what the forerunners truly looked like.

Welcome to bungie, you have no rights. play nice!

The forerunners are a highly advanced race that had an ecunume of 3 million fertile worlds. They vary in appearance because they mutate but they are generally gray, blue, pink or a mixture of all of them. Their hair colour is usually white, lilar or red.
They are generally tall [2+ meters] and can live thousands and thousands of years. They spend very little time outside their armour. Their armour is equipped with an ancillia, an AI, and it's partially responsable for their long longetivity.
They are divided in five classes:
Builders, Miners, Lifeworkers, Warrior-Servants and engineers.
They're in order of importance to the forerunners. They come from Ghilbalb but it got wrecked during a stellar experiment that went all wrong.
Their political center is called the Capital. It's composed of a series of perfectly circular "platforms" arranged in a spiral along a central rod. These platforms decrease in size toward either end of the rod, with the widest central one being approximately 100,000 kilometers in diameter. Each platform is covered with a "city" of structures and buildings. They have explored other dimensions such as Slipspace, Shunspace, The Glow, Natal Void and Denial Of Locale.
