I'm sure a few of my fellow members here know of the 7th Column Council. It's been a sort of work in progress by the community for a few years now. A few members have picked up the idea (well picked it up a year or so ago...) and begun work on it. You can sort through all of our work in this group, The Council Chambers (It looks intimidating at first, but I hope you'll find it an interesting read). Now we've been working on this for awhile- a very long while. We just wanted to check out everyone elses opinion and make sure we aren't getting too shortsighted. So just post what you think of the idea- any suggestions, [CONSTRUCTIVE!!!] critisism, or praise, in the unlikely event you feel we deserve some. So we're waiting for the input! Thanks for reading.

Also, check out this awesome model site that was put up courtesy of VII Toast. This site would serve as the Council's "base of operations" if you will. The Councilors would put up news, the spotlight and other things on that page.

EDIT: There was another 40-or-so page thread up about it, but, alas, it has drifted into the abyss.

EDIT^2: I suppose one could see this as a group advertisement if they had their minds set on seeing it as such, but that's not what it was ment to be.

Well this community deffinately needs something like this. Bungie should deffinately do something about it. Take into consideration.

The council is an excellent Idea. It would bring a certain equilibrium to the commmunity. It is really needed!

A very good idea. But that's the kind of answer one can expect from me. :)
We still have to work out a few things ofcourse, but the council is more than needed if one should ask me.

That's an awesome model. I really like it. Of course, I've always liked the idea of the Council. I just don't see much that can be done without Bungie's help in it. I mean, they can do a few things, like chapter spotlights, etc. But that's it, for now.

Well there are many things that the Council can do...we just have to prove that and get it up and working.

Wich unfortunately is pretty difficult to do since not all voices shout "yes!' on that subject. :(
but i am glad that more and more action is being taken.

No offense, but we've been trying to hammar it out for a year or so in TCC. I don't think we'll solve it in 5 minutes =P

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I think its a good idea,

but i also think it needs to be executed very carefully.

I agree. Any new change must be done with care, but that shouldn't be a reason to not implement the idea.

Agreed...It will take a very careful implementation process to make it work, but that doesn't mean it should not be done.

Isn't that the point of the Assembly (Link in Sig) ? Why is it that they praise something that has done nothing, but shun the same thing which is actually doing it's job, and hasn't taken years to do it.

No offense, but it isn't a contest or something. The council idea has been around for a very very long time, just like the council chambers, wich has reached quite a few things. it's not that the council it self should be the thing to go for. But the idea. Nor have i seen "results" from the Assembly. Thoughts like this keep the council(the whole idea of it) from becoming a reality. What we need is a little solidarity.

Funny, the Council has been around since May 2, 2005. The Assembly: December 28, 2005. The Assembly has stopped a few group wars so far, and helped to clear a few names. It's not much, but I'm not saying were all mighty. I'm simply saying that I don't understand why two of the same basic Ideas would be treated so differently. I'd have to say it's because one was created by a now appointed Mod, and the other by me, Papa John, a fanfic writer, long time bungie.net member, and a Council Member of MBT.

Anyway so now that the personal resumé is done, if a mod is running the Council Chambers, he should step up to the plate, and make a Council. The problem is, your idea of a council is much different than mine, or the Assembly. The Assembly is meant for everyone, your council is not. If you make a council, you will need many council members, and many intelligent ones who know what they're doing and won't slack off. We both have a tough road ahead, but we both have a noble cause.

Anyway, I mean no competition, but I am simply stating that everyone shouldn't jump aboard a ship before they see where it's headed.

Ok, my misstake than, no harm intended.
Anyway in defense of the council, One of the reasons the council has more support is due to the fact that the original idea was started by Bungie itself, and thanks to all the Bungie feedback it gets. I am glad that there are more people out there with best intend for the community. It will be great if both ideas could be worked out.

The idea of the council has been around since the new hotness was launched (although Sketch seemed to be thinking about it for a while before that).

The council, if and when it's established, would be an official Bungie group with (I hope) access to the community homepage. The group The Council Chambers is not to be confused with the council itself - that group was established to discuss ideas for the group, and nothing in it is to be taken as an official Bungie statement.
