Subject: What happened after the Covenant / Human war?

Can anyone explain this to me?

  • 04.21.2011 5:05 AM PDT

For the fun of it!

Once finished, the Humans and Elites had a sort of alliance, while the remains of the Covenant were hunted down and destroyed (primarily by the Elites). The Prophets once again disapeared from known space, and the Brutes turned to in fighting for power, making their destruction easier. After that is unknown...

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Humanity and the Elite´s were allied, and the Elites tried to fight what was left of the Covenant away from their new found allies.

I can see this relationship lasting for a while. Humanity could fill the science department that the Prophets previously occupied.

I read somewhere that after the war, tensions between the UNSC and various Rebels were rising, prompting the possibility of another Insurrection.

As for the Covenant, they stopped fighting the UNSC/Covenant Separatists on March 3rd 2553.

haven't heard of that and i doubt it, the UNSC will be too busy rebuilding to mess with innies.

I think most of the innies either rejoined the UNSC fold and stopped crying for Insurrection during the war, or they're out in the middle of nowhere keeping to themselves like the Rubble and the Eridanus rebels hiding in that asteroid.

No, they are indeed beginning to usurp once again in the remaining colonies. It was mentioned in a passage in the Encyclopaedia about the aftermath of the war. I found a reference to the Insurrection being active during the war as well. In Ghosts of Onyx, during the part where Ackerson brings the S-III project to Parangosky, he says that the rebels were eroding away at the UNSC's economy base. The UNSC were fighting a war on two fronts.

This whole Insurrection deal is retarded. Before the war is fair enough and understandable, but during and after it is just plain unreal. I think the writers are emo.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I'd be nice if the Engineers made a colony world on Earth. Considering all they've been through, they deserve it.

There's no real solid fiction to say what happens, but if 343 makes a halo 4, we'll find out.

Well, thats humanity for you. If we aren't fighting a massive collection of aliens, we're fighting each other.

No, several colonies weren't glassed. Mars, Jupiter and Pluto in the inner colonies weren't, as well as XI Boötis A System and Groombridge 1830 System in the outer colonies remained in UNSC hands.

UNSC and the Covenant Seperatists (Not just Elites, but Hunters, Grunts and Engineers that were with the Elites, but just not shown in-game) formed somewhat of an alliance.
Brutes and those that fought with them were hunted down and exterminated by the Elites.
Other races such as Drones and Jackals most likely went on their own ways.
The Insurrection started up again, I think. Humanity makes a major breakthrough in Forerunner technology, and advances faster than ever before.

Jackals were always faithful to the prophets, so they must have been hunted down after the war.

  • 04.22.2011 3:04 AM PDT

They also terraformed the glassed colonies.

Hopefully we should have more knowledge on this subject later on this year. Tor will be releasing a new series of books based upon the events after the war, including a direct sequel to Ghosts of Onyx.

In my eyes it's...childish to assume that even in the threat of extinction that everybody would drop all grudges and fight together. Everybody has selfish quality's and even in war these sometimes take greater manifestation than the threat at hand.

When my Parents get in into a very bad argument i don't stop arguing with my sister. petty example but close enough.
And think about it, the rebels were doing a damn good job of hiding away from the covenant. So if the UNSC falls they could just gather up and relocate elsewhere and start over.

** I think it is interesting that the UNSC was fighting two wars. just like humanity was fighting the flood and the forerunners at the same time.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

There is a small chapter on it in the book

-Halo evolutions-

Basically elite and human alliance helping rebuild the universe sorta thing.

You should probably explain what serious grudges you imagine would still exist in 500 years that would turn Humans against each other when they know fine well that all will be destroyed.

Not quite. A better analogy might be to say that you do not stop fighting with your sister when your mum starts on both of you. Regardless, I dare say that you would start getting along the minute an armed burglar broke though your window...

Possibly. Although the Rubble should have taught them otherwise.

I don't have any examples or ideas for that, i just think that sometimes it is good to show the truly selfish side of humanity inside of the happy "lets fight the common enemy".
That is just my personal take on it.

Burglar and my sister, probably. though i do know after we got done with him we would start arguing over how he got in the house in the first place. Though my Brother and i would keep arguing even during a fight and probably start fighting each other (happens here and there). Sometimes just Sometimes you just can't get along. Just like humanity fighting 2 wars at once (with reason); and in which the UNSC and innies might start fighting again once the covenant is over.

Ha, were it so easy. But like i said, the innies could honestly just the the UNSC die out and keep living with no harm to them. Selfish, but humans are selfish.

My name is Legion, for we are many.

"Jackals were always faithful to the Prophets, so they must have been hunted down after the war."

Really? It's not actually possible for a Jackal to understand concepts of loyalty. If I were an Elite general all I would have to do to win the Jackals over to my side is promise them a trade deal and give them a large sum of money.
