Technically it shouldn't exist, as the POA hadn't launched it's mission by the time Noble-6 delivered Cortana, which is what they were waiting for to start.

The way Halo: Reach's campaign is timed, Noble delivers the fragment, the POA leaves on it's mission, then recieves the distress signal calling all ships back to Reach, where it is heavily damaged, the Spartan-IIs go planetside and the Chief is deployed to the orbital station.

The whole POA segment felt poorly thought out to me. There is no way you could safely land something that big on a planet, let alone get it back into space. It probably wouldn't even be structually capable of supporting it's own weight.

Not possible, In "The fall of Reach" the distress call to the PoA is sent and Captain Keyes has no idea Reach under siege. In Halo: Reach, Captain Keyes is well aware Reach is under siege, he is witnessing a Covenant cruiser CSS heading towards them. What's the point of the distress signal for something he already knows? At this point Reach is already lost. I say the Pillar of Autumn level is after they pick up John and clinically dead Linda from the statio Gamma.

I also posted this (don't remember where) if Red Team was targeted almost right away soon as they went into insertion, how come the PoA entering low orbit insertion wasn't targeted at all? It would have been a juicy sitting duck.

Maybe Bungie didn't bother to read "The fall of Reach". Who knows. The PoA level is the only one problem in the whole story between "The fall of Reach" and Halo: Reach.

Look at the timeline I posted up in my OP. I clearly state with time's from the book and game and this is true. Gamma Station occured first, then Keyes landed back onto Reach.

Now note, that there are several canon mistakes in the book THe Fall of Reach. Such as Halsey never knowing the existence of Elites.
As far as Reach breaking canon, I'm gonna have to compare the game with the books to see if any canon is actually being broken.

You moron The elites being seen prior are a recent retconned piece of information. even if it wasn't saying that elites weren't often fought on the ground (which they weren't) would have been fine.

so most of the "errors" your going to find are already fixed, but while your looking back be sure to post the sentence in fall of reach where halsey says class two was scrapped due to funds.

Кланяються мені!

Personally I get what your saying, but I think you are just over thinking it.

That egg was meant to be found by eveybody, and a good majority of the Halo fan base follow the storyline within the games knowing little of books and other aspects of the Halo Universe. It seems everybody was expecting MC to be in the game at one point. There where theories all over. Then after release it was found filling everybody's expectations. Why would it be anybody else?

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.

Bungie has been known to make connections to the Fall of Reach in their previous games. Of course people who never read the books would never know.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Is this moron STILL living in denial?

They haven't made many connections, off the top of my head i can think of

1. opening of halo 2

2. Lord hood stating the number of covie ships at reach

3.Elites in halo 2 saying "where were you when we burned your planet?"

4.Buck telling dare they will make it off Earth like they did Reach in ODST.

5. ODST Easter eggs saying "Remember Reach".

That isnt alot and seeing how the first 2 are cinimatics they were probably skipped or not paid attention to, and you wouldn't hear 3 and 4 over the firefights.

Hardly worth bringing this up

It's Chief. This is an easter egg. Not a mystery.

Just to let you guys know, Bungie has made several easter eggs of the books. I'm sure you guys know what they are. And they're very noticeable. And some of them are even from the book, The Fall of Reach.
So to me, it would make sense if they made another reference to the book since Reach has references to the other books.

Honestly, what part of "Bungie directly stated what that cryotube easter egg was all about in plain English" do you not understand?

Yes there are allusions to the books in past Halo games, but guess what? In regards to the spartan in the cryotube, Bungie directly stated it's the Chief. End of story. Fin. Stop trying to make a "heated debate" out of it because there is NOTHING to be debated here.

Joshua seems to like making canon crazy topics...

He still hasn't answered my question about the Spartan II class II, or why there would be a cryotube in the middle of a bloody hanger, or why grey team would magically appear on Reach.

You and I would know that at this moment, there is absolutely nothing in canon that delves into the topic of a second Spartan II class. So naturally you should just recognize as I do that he won't be able to answer that at all. He's already completely oblivious to the fact that Bungie outright stated what the point of that egg was, so it's only natural he does the same to canon conventions.

Edit: Oh and before my words get twisted by anyone let me clarify. When I say nothing in canon referring to a second Spartan II class I mean of such a class being approved of and trained. I am well aware that there was the intention of creating a second class in Fall of Reach, but as anyone who's read the books would know, that plan came apart. Resources went into MJOLNIR, but all other assets that would assist in making a second batch of Spartan IIs went towards Ackerson's more economical and prolific S-IIIs.

Bungie Confirmed it being Master Cheif...

  • 04.22.2011 10:31 AM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I'd have thought it was just Bungie's attempt to include the iconic character of their flagship series into their last game of that series, rather than a fairly obscure character from the novels that the majority of people who play the game won't know. But yeah, no, you're probably it right, clearly it's Linda.

It was stated in a GameInformer issue that John was the Spartan in the cryo-pod.

It's an Easter-egg, it doesn't matter.

Indeed, clearly the Spartan lying in the cryotube randomly in the middle of a busy hanger bay and not even plugged into the cryobay or the auto-ejection tubes incase of emergancy, in brand sparkling new armor no less, was Linda. They just spent the couple hours taking off her beat up and heavily damaged armor, put a new suit on, then froze her. Then, instead of repairing damage they spent who knows how long dragging the cryotube through the hallways and spending lots of extra time getting it around corners and through doors to plug it into the cryobay.

Stop overthinking things. The spartan in POA was an easter egg, you hear? EASTER EGG. They'd much rather pay homage for chief and put him there, than to put a less iconic (tho still a great character) in when more than half of the players won't even know who it is?

Oh you don't remember in Halo 3 how on one level EVERY LINE CORTANA SAYS IS A LINE FROM FoR? Or how about the hidden terminal?

Not all the Cortana moments were lines from Halsey...

Still, that provides ABSOLUTELY no proof/hinting that the random cryotube in the middle of the hanger would be canon. Or that the Spartan in PERFECTLY FINE Mark V would be Linda. (Hint, it cannot be because when she was put into Cryo her armor was royally messed up.

I love how this thread is about Linda being in cryo at the end of Halo:Reach, yet the OP continues to go off on wild tangents in a futile attempt to prove his already disproved theory....

I think it's a common tactic.
