This thread was locked because I assume it was in the wrong forum. But if it went on for that long without a lock, I don't know what the mods were doing. I'll repost it here. This is gonna be hell to re-do.

Halo 4 Ideas

-Johnson gets a woman (He's been guaranteed).

I kinda want 343 to do more of what Halo 3 did. Fix grenades, use similar graphics, equipment (not AA's), bring back dual wielding, bring back SMG, add ODST SMG, etc.

Not trying to tell them what to do, just giving my opinion.

Some things I wanna see:

Weapons and such

AL pickup (turn it into H3 equipment):
Should be 1 use, if chosen to end early, it will be gone, and same effects as AL now. Keep all other pick ups (Bubble shield, deployable cover, maybe add a hologram pickup)

-Halo 3 BR but at least five bursts to kill. As of now, weapons in medium and CQC battles don't stand a chance. 5 shots will heat up the fight, coming down to a matter of who has more skill. That way, it can keep its effectiveness at all ranges, have to lead shots so you can't really snipe with it, and if you try to fight a weapon designed for a certain area, it is the one who is slightly more likely to win, while the BR can still have a fair chance, and vice-versa.

-If I didn't mention it already, here is how the SMG should work:
The bloom should be like the AR's except the max is bigger and it won't fully reset to the point of where the four lines touch. The ODST SMG, the max should be smaller than the regular SMG and the reset point should be closer together. But like the normal ODST SMG, have the scope, and do less damage.

You have Active Cammo active, use silenced weapons and bam! Actually, no bam. You don't appear when you shoot.


-I kinda want forge to have some of the customizability of Custom Edition. I'm not saying AI fights and such. Just some cool things like dogfight maps, scarab battles, massive maps, fun vehicles like jetpacks and what looks like the Pillar of Autumn.

-Turn some AA's into equipment. I may have wrote this, but I feel I'm having deja vu here. I'll just paste my reply to a guy.
Equipment. Make it like you need equipment to run. You get a nice burst of speed from cover spot to cover spot, get a jetpack for a moment, check out the AL pickup I thought of, a nice roll, and a hologram pickup.

-Placable mobile bases. Like the elephant, but improve it!
What if we had a slow moving aircraft with a lot of big, operable guns (one buy driver, many other placed around the ship (guns are on the outside to shoot other targets outside the ship) operated by many people), big-yet-small turrets to take out vehicles and infantry.

And in the vehicle bay, we had jetpack chairs (and more, warthogs, tanks, spec ops aircraft for troop/vehicle/weapon drops, re,etc) that you could use to take to the door of the enemies. Boarding the ship wold be bashing open a door somewhere that was meant for infantry and allowing people in.

-No AA's. Except maybe in Firefight. Maybe keep the class based system, just don't use it regularly in MM. Like For a double EXP weekend a "Reach Halo" playlist would be good.

-Fix the Brute Shot/Concussion Rifle. Whichever you add to the game, they were too powerful.

-Maybe bring back Halo 3 Magnum, that thing took skill.

-Maybe an Armor Lock pick up that works like it does now, except it has one use for six seconds, and if you choose to end it early, it counts as your one use. For forge and MM.

-Bring back all weapons and add ODST SMG

-More customizable character model (Gun the preview holds, better, sleeker armor, more unlockable through achievements)

-An armory system like Reach, except more customizable. See above. So keep the armory, get credits from each match have an armory rank, etc.

-More unlockable armor. Stuff that looks stealthy, sleek, tactal, etc.

-Armory rank, as well as a separate MM Halo 3 (or improved) 1-50 universal ranking system.

-Lightly customizable landscape and texture packs. (I think that means change a stone wall to a metal wall)
ability to edit how big a wall is.

-No hit-scan

-A few special playlists (a few in ranked and a few in social) where you have to be in game chat, and you can't go into party chat or private chat.

-32 max players

-New melee style! Halo:CE style, except you have the ability to take out your knife (always there, option to remove for customs) and have it kill in two hits. That way you can't shoot AND melee.

-No sword block

-Halo 3-style health system

-No bleed through melee

-Maps specially crafted for some epic BTB action that supports infantry movement and support, as well as vehicles. Kinda like Valhalla. Maybe some with an actual base and areas to shoot from, like Standoff's bases. And actual cover, like when going uphill on High Ground.

-New grenade system
3 Frags
2 sticks unless stuck
1 Spike
1 Firebomb

On spawn: 1 frag
Dead bodies do not drop grenades. (custom option, should be in MM)

IDEAS AND SUCH

IF YOU HAVEN'T, PLEASE READ THE WHOLE PART ABOUT MOBILE BASES
BIG ONE! \l/
-A special 32 player playlist with many objectives (like invasion but bigger, better, more frantic maps with many more objectives) on huge maps designed for them. Think Bad company mixed with Halo's Invasion and such. It should utilize Pelicans, phantoms, special types of vehicles (Drop ships and such), falcons, jets, ground forces, sniper points that don't dominate everything, have good weapon layout, an actual base with depth ans special rooms like for weapons, sniping, vehicles, teleporters that can lead to places in the base and on the map for reinforcements, a roof, a flag room, as well as some pointless corridors and rooms that lead as a secondary route to some places. So maybe it'd be like some sort of ODST Spec Ops unit.
-A special 16 vs 16 playlist for the things I listed way above. Imagine having on-spawn classes like

ODST SMG + Auto Mag
AR + Reg. SMG
BR + AR
BR + ODST SMG
AR + H3 Magnum

Now imagine choosing spawn points to certain areas. Base, the back lines of defense before the base, weapons room, remote base, sniper point on base, landing pad, vehicle garage, etc.

And to help support squad work and teamwork, we're all in squads of 4. Teammate quits? Spawn on the other 3, a few needs backup? Tell one to back out and spawn on him. Searched MM in a group of 3? You stay together AND get an extra guy. Since people have more than two friends, putting 3-4 guys in the same group would increase teamwork between them. This in addition to the spawn points above.

Hey, this could be CTF, Assault, Big Team Slayer, or an advanced version of invasion. Like, to do the final objective, you have to go through everything like Invasion would normally, but the enemies have to do the same to you for them to win! And maybe with more types of objectives. Imagine, break through the front lines, capture the flag, then bomb the base. All while the enemies are defending themselves, AND trying to do the same to you! That will help increase teamwork, and create a combat zone in the middle. Though these bases would have to be really big, just like the map. Multiple paths to take, take some air vehicles to them, land vehicles, etc.
The front lines will have real cover like sand bags, bunkers, fox holes, etc. This would be EPIC.

-Falling damage. Halo 3 campaign-style. You either die or take no damage and land safely. Just extend however long it takes to die by a few seconds. That way using the drop pods will have meaning and you can't just make an escape by jumping off the twin towers. If it was like that, 9/11 jokes would be fine.

I'm having a freaking creative-ideagasm.

Please 343, YOU GOTTA READ THIS.

-Individual damage modifiers. These modifiers would be great so you can play with weakened precision weapons and others can play with stronger precision weapons, or for people that want to recreate settings from H2 or CE.
They can also be used to help improve our own custom gametypes and so the developers can easily edit and improve MM if they/we don't like something. Not to mention make fun gametypes that don't have to be created around the weapon's pre-existing damage.

-Custom game searcher? Maybe add a description to your game, if open, so they know how to play?

-How about when you play single player, you have one scenario, then in co-op, it changes slightly to where teamwork is required.

-Ability to add clouds, rain, trees, etc. Rain and weather like it could work how death barriers (EXAMPLE!) work. Add depth, width, length, circumference, etc.
There should also be special options like density and such.

-A system where an assist counts as 1/2 a kill, that way you still get kills if you mainly get assists. Something similar for wheelman medals and such. That way you get propper credit for assists and and motivates you to help out the team by driving vehicles and assisting teammates.

-Make the quit ban longer to about 30 mins, or an hour. People are still constantly quitting, especially in small games and other ones where teamwork is important.

-An extra sudden death when the bomb is planted and already in sudden death. And a sudden death in Slayer-type matches where if you are losing by five points and the timer runs out, you have a chance at making a comeback.

-Reach customization ability when in the armory. Imagine all the stuff the ODST squad have on their head.

-If possible, maybe some youtube rendering? I don't care so much as long as I can download the films and clips, but the option would be nice.

-A Forge World with different areas like a night (or dark) area, a desert area, a small town area, etc. Maybe two different forge worlds, like add a New Alexandria or New Mombasa area?

Sword is broken in Halo: Reach.

Both the shotgun and the Hammer can kill someone with a sword at about 1.5 to 2 times the distance that the sword can kill. This needs to be rectified.

Also, it takes approx. 1 full second for the sword to actually deal damage after the trigger is pulled. This should not be. I should be having results as soon as the trigger is pulled with any weapon.

Also, in campaign: The damage each weapon does is scaled as the difficulty goes up. This should not be, and is an example of False Difficulty. How the weapons are used by the enemy should be the only thing that changes. I don't want to have full shields and still die from three shots from a plasma pistol on Legendary anymore. That is FALSE difficulty. If an enemy wants to kill me with a plasma pistol, it should have to keep continuous fire on me until I die from the guns SET damage.

Couldn't have said this better myself. Though if the damage for weapons goes up for them, it should go up for us to some degree.

In Campaign, the ability to command your AI friends to not drive the Warthog when I'm on the turret picking off the enemies at a safe distance.
Better yet, some sort of simple command system like in Star Wars Republic Commando like "Engage hostiles on that side". In Reach, I thought it would be nice if your Spartan allies weren't invincible-they could get downed now and then and you could revive them-make you feel like you were a team and that you didn't leave anyone behind (although this would annoy people if Ju- I mean the AI were useless and kept dying).

They were going to do that, but then they scrapped it.

Basically, everybody has nailed it.

A good campaign with lots of allied AI vs enemy AI.
Vehicle combat.
Everything Halo has ever had combined into one, and multiplied by 4


You mean by 7. How about AIs that help you and take out enemies, but how good and useful they are, depends on how much you kill, shoot, move up, and overall how well you play, and how much you contribute. So it could work like how many of your shots hit in a certain time frame and how many you kill in that time frame. And how much progress you make will add a bonus?

Be nice to get a better campaign that has replayability value. I believe developers these days are too focused on getting people to buy and play their game for the next 10 years, so they put too much into multiplayer, skipping out on the single player. Of course, multiplayer's vital to a game's earnings, but when it short- shrifts the campaign and single player to the extent that no one wants to play it more than once or twice maybe for the achievements, we have a problem.

Just a simple example: I bought Crysis 2 and have been playing that recently. Crytek did a great job with the graphics, story, and variability of that campaign, but has so far refused to pay attention to the bugs. In the campaign there is a similar credit system, but those credits are often erased or glitched. They haven't fixed that, they're just too worked up over selling the multiplayer.

I honestly was forced to motivate myself just to get through Tip of the Spear and The Package. For me there was no fun in those missions, barely any variability in how to play through. It was quite literally 'get here, kill those guys, do this, go there, kill those guys, hit switch, watch cutscene.' I would like to see a more developed story with deeper characters and more variables in the campaign. Admit it, Reach's campaign was half- assed. Hopefully 343 is willing to start new, improve on the existing benefits and fix the problems. Thanks.


Yeah. Remember some maps on Halo 3, Like "The Covenant" and the last level? Those were so damn fun and had a lot of replay value. Most of Halo 2's campaign had a lot of replay value too.

We need something fun, epic, memorable, and well plotted, while packing a punch that makes us want to sleep over a friend's house and stay up all night, just to beat it. While making us actually accomplish something, while making us feel like we accomplished something. With all the amounts of glitches, easter eggs, and fun that was in all the Halos (except Reach).


But a huge amount needs to go into the Multiplayer experience. Something huge, revolutionary, and fun! Like what Halo 2 did to Xbox Live. They are really going to need to pack so much into this and not water it down. They may need to make multiple disks. Not just our MM experience, but our Forge, FF, and Theater experience.


-Ability to place ammo for weapons in forge. Not the weapon itself but the ammo packs for them. Also, maybe the ability to place empty weapons?

-Special armor for doing certain things? Like playing Halo 2 or 3 or things? Like how we normally got our nameplates? Or how about having contests and have armor already put in for those contests.

-Double EXP Weekend. For both EXP and credits.

-Large, amazing objective maps

-Holstered weapons as a utility piece for the armory. Like an SMG or a Magnum. Hell, why not just about anything dual wieldable and cool?

-A campaign with actual objectives, not just "make it over here without dieing, hit that switch, kill all these enemies, hold off here." I don't like CoD to much, but at least you do actual things like "take a non-lethal shot on this guy," or "Don't let the enemies destroy this," or "Protect this guy." A warthog run, though they are fun, is not an objective. Only ODST had them, and CE where you can't let Keyes die.

-Improve theater. fix the glitch where we can't watch film CLIPS together (Halo 3) and let us have multiple people in a theater lobby.

-Stop with all the barriers. We can't even explore outside the map anymore! I mean if you're gonna add them, let us remove all of them (return to battlefield only). Even the ones outside the map.

That way you get credits to buy armor, have to still unlock armor, and the MM rank will mean something. Though I'd like a MM system based off of something more than winning.

You can have to be a certain armory rank for something, and you can be a level one MM noob. Or even some armor that needs to be unlocked by both MM rank and Armory rank. But for most armor, you need credits. That way they mean something, but you still have incentive to play and be the best.[/url]

-A lot of the vehicles we never used

-Make the Warthog good again.

-Transport Warthogs, Falcons, and Covenant vehicles. These would fit perfectly for that 32 playlist. Not to mention they would be great for objective gametypes and custom games. This would also be great for Machinima.

These aren't that big and I don't understand why you wouldn't want these to be in at all. They don't HAVE to put them in most of MM and we can use them for our own games and forge maps. They are also very good for machinima.

These add variety. Imagine playing CTF on Scarabs with Pelicans/Phantoms in the vehicle bay. They also allow for new playlists and gametypes (serious or goofy). They would also be really fun to goof around in while in Forge. They shouldn't be hard to make, They did it perfectly in Halo: Custom Edition, and they're just normal people!
Alright, I understand how the Scarab is big but... Look at Halo: CE! Secondary fire shoots the turret, main fire can shoot the main gun, and holding it will charge a blast that will last longer. Just make some adjustments to the Halo 3 one, and BOOM! Perfect Scarab.

The Pelican? Passengers should take a lot less damage than the pilot, which shouldn't be too much (Warthog, Falcon-type damage, not appropriate here) damage. Whatever the Pilot takes, the passengers should take less. That way you got the typical "Guys, our pilot is down, we're gonna crash!" moments. Then if you bail out at that height, the falling damage system I mentioned (Halo 3 campaign-stlye) will stop you from bailing out and living. But if it was to high, the Pelican would blow up on impact of the ground (momentum and all), while if you got out before you would die from falling, you hit the ground really hard, and die.

Same goes for other big vehicles like that.

-New vehicle:
Like a motorcycle with light machine guns attached. Sorta like a Human version of the Ghost? I took that idea from a CE map.

-A lot of the vehicles from the Halo world available in forge

-Civilian cars! I wanna drive some speedy civilian cars. Good for race tracks and etc.

-Forklifts. Do I really need a reason?

-Trucks, and other vehicles in the Reach campaign. Forklift-like vehicles. They were so fun and goofy.

SERIOUSLY! These help add variety and fun in our custom games! They are the goofy fun we all love from Halo. Reach was just a boring gray blob. It got too serious. It's like Halo grew up, got boring, and went to law school.

You might have said this, but different versions of forge world. For example, forge city,arctic version or start a map from scratch, like choose a terrain to base it off of.


Those would be nice. How about a giant map with a huge lake on the side with a small strip of land on the side where on one end is a lake, then the other the ocean that is the end of the map. Then a valley on the other side of the lake. Two large bases on each side, 1 land mobile base, 1 aerial mobile base, and 1 water base. Go read about those.

You got troop transport vehicles (land and air), you got aerial fighter jets and larger fighter ones that can transport like a phantom or something, you got sniper posts, you got warthogs, transport hogs, boats, jetpack chairs, mounted turrets, some weapon caches in the base, a flag room, landing pads,etc.

It would be kinda a night map, some obstacles in the middle, trees, etc.

Now imagine that being the new FW. Forge anywhere you want. That would be great for a 16 vs 16 playlist. Slayer, CTF, Assault, you know the drill.

-First person vehicle option.
Remember in CE where you would be in the side of a Hog and it looked frantic and chaotic? where it was fun to be in the side?
Doesn't anyone want things like that? True, the falcon turrets are a start, but I really hope 343 does things like this.
For example, you go forge a vehicle, then in the options for it, you can select each seat and chose first or 3rd person, if available. At least side seats and turrets, please.
Or
-First person view on the back of vehicles and in the side seat/car. Or how about an option on the D-Pad? If not, it should be an option in forge.

-Maybe the ability to dual wield while on the back of a vehicle or in the side seat/car? Or even possibly hold a heavy weapon on the back?

MAPS
First, let me say that I'm not going to try to direct people I don't even know or tell them what to do. I just wanna say some things that I feel some maps need.

-More REAL cover. Like on High Ground. When you start moving uphill, you notice rocks, caves and destroyed barriers. Gives you a reason to crouch and doesn't make you make a run of faith to avoid a sniper or enemy with the rockets dominating the map.
The base is more open but has some nice cover. There should still be some open areas that can act as quicker ways to get to places, but if you don't proceed with caution, you are likely to die.

-Night maps? I don't really know, I had more ideas before I came here to write this.

-Stop with all the focus on map control. If you want a nice game of slayer and you don't go with a party, then get matched up against a "zXz pr0 clanzzz XzX" and they start getting all cheap (doing things that anyone can do to get an advantage) or something, you can still make a comeback.
When you get pinned down, it isn't easy to avoid all these enemies spamming rockets, snipers, and grenades at you. In fact, it would be more helpful to have real cover (above) in these situations.
Or if you have a minor slip up and the enemies spawn trap you and keep stealing and whoring all the power weapons, you have a chance at redemption.

-Stop it with all the soft death barriers everywhere. If you're going to put them on, let us remove ALL of them. Even the ones outside of the map. Let us escape the invisible ones ourselves. Unless it is an exploit in MM, don't put them there.

I'd like an infection gametype where you spawn with SMG and auto mag or some good weapon. Just as long as it doesn't cause an imbalance.

-What if you mix gametypes? Like infection and slayer. 2 teams of humans who both have to fight each other, and one growing team of infected fighting all of them.
Or CTF on king of the Hill. Get to the hill which contains a neutral flag. Both teams have to try to bring it back to the base. Or you can put one team offending, one defending.
Hell, how about VIP + CTF/Assault? VIP can only hold the bomb/flag. Maybe he should rotate, in case you get the ass trying to be "cool" and "funny" by not playing, being an ass, or in case he/she just sucks

Campaign

-In Halo 2, we were able to skip some fighting by climbing mountains, making jumps, going over the buildings on the second level (I think it was the second) and on the lift on an Arbiter mission, there was a glitch, easter egg, or just something odd where we could climb the cool diagonal pillar, go through the wall, and fall onto an invisible floor. When the ledges the flood jump off of pass by, you could jump onto them. I think Halo 3 had a few of these.
Let me get to the point. Reach doesn't have any of that. We don't find skulls, there's not much exploration to the game, there's to many invisible walls and WAY too many "Return to battlefield" areas (just like the MM and FF maps). We don't get to have any fun. True, we could glitch, but in the others, we had glitches to get us beyond places, as well as trick jumps, moving objects, friends to jump on and to other things to get farther, etc. We need more of these.
For example, on the last level of Halo 3, in the terminal room, we could use some friends to help get passed the gap and find the easter egg.

-More things like terminals. Data pads won't cut it unless they do something special. We also should get achievements.

-REALLY hidden skulls. Some not too hard, some outside the map, some require a glitch? Maybe some new ones.

-Large AI battles. Something BIG, EPIC, AND memorable.

You have some really awesome ideas here, essentially the parts about 32 player games, large maps and awesome vehicles! It might seem too hard to do it, but like you said, it was done in Halo CE, and they where fan made, imagine what game developers could do!

Look at the Halo CE map Extinction, it was HUGE and it had:

Longswords
Pelicans
Fighter Jets (I don't remember the name of it)
Mythos
Scarab
Phantoms
Seraphs
Giant Anti-Air Guns
Multiple types of Warthogs
Multiple types of Ghosts
Spectre
Scorpions

And loads of modified weapons!

Also, if graphics have to be sacrificed in order to make such an awesome maps and vehicles, who cares!

Just imagine the awesomeness! If you had a 16 player team, you could have everything coordinated with dropships and Longswords up above, tanks and Warthogs on the ground, plus lots more!

I want the AAs to stay, if a little tweaked. I do NOT want them getting rid of hitscan... considering we would no longer be able to hit anyone. Ever. Which would suck.

I really don't care a huge amount about AAs, and I'm not exactly sure what hitscan is (but if disabling it meant that we could not hit anyone, then no game company would do that).

But how could you disagree with 32 player matches and all the awesome vehicles?

If you didn't, go down to the vehicles section and read about the air base. Trust me, there is more to that than what I wrote on the top. It has the perfect way to make Drop Pods work if they use the falling system I mentioned.

Oh, and hitscan means the bullet actually takes time to travel. Not sure whether it is an actual projectile or not, but yeah. That's why at longer distances, on moving targets, you have to lead your shots.

It'd be cool if there was a mission or part of a mission that was similar to Halo Wars, kind of like that mission in Black Ops except not as crappy.

By this I mean a top down RTS mission with the same controls as Halo Wars.

Personally i think any new halo games shouldn't be made on the 360 anymore as a stop gap for 343 to dip there toe in the water a bit i think making an xbox live arcade game kind of like a star wars battlefront 2 space battles if you have ever played it but using the reach graphics engine and make it online only kind of like battlefield 1942 with community unlocked maps if they reach i dont know 117,000,000 kills or something. It would be something different and new merging vehicle combat and normal halo gameplay as well as interesting the fans with new vehicles such as flying the pelican and the phantom the fighter jets and seraphs. Then when the new xbox comes out hit the market with the halo trilogy boxset using an amazing all new super awesome mind blowing engine kind of like what halo CE did back on the original xbox and then make halo 4 with halo being the the leader in graphical technology. People always say that halo has bad graphics personally i think there one of the best on 360 so remove that stigma on the new console. I think it would be dangerous to start bringing out a new halo every year i just dont think fans would want a game every year i know i wouldnt and with the game being single platform i wouldnt want the fan base to shrink.

a new firefight mode with flood. maybe an elite campaign on alpha halo. also i hope the firefight may be objective based maybe keeping a hold on territories or keeping certain things working. also maybe having some covie friends like grunts and jackels and hunters join you.

hope the campaing will also be an elite campaign on alpha halo. with the ability to kill humans in the beginning and being the first to open the flood compartment and being part of the containment team. also having to land on the pillar of autumn to clear it out but has to leave and survive somehow with a few remnant of soldiers. it ends there. the next game will take place on delta halo. he wont land on earth to fight humans but he did fight them on delta halo when john 117 is trying to assassinate the prophet of regret. the elite isnt on the path of john 117 but somewhere else holding of the other humans the rest is gonna be talked about afterwards.

Not a bad idea actually. But Microsoft will have to make an update for the Xbox.

But if that happens, we could be a step closer to web browsing, the one thing the PS3 has that we don't. If we could do that in-game, that would be perfect after you die on S&D or while waiting for something. Say you need to look up a glitch. Or maybe find some cheats/easter eggs. Or just answer some questions/research.
