Subject: What material does the covenant use to make their "stuff"

A Huragok (spelling?) builds them. Huragok's build things by stripping them down to a molecular level and reshaping them. In seconds. God knows what in the name of -Blam!- type of materials they can build doing that.

i find it odd that if the forerunners alloy was indestructible...then how did they go extinct so fast. I t also seems to me that they would have mauled the covenant when they back-stabbed them

mauled the covenant when they back-stabbed them

What? They were killed off by the flood, eventually ending in killing themselves and every other sentient race. the covenant had nothing to do with it.

it is a material called explodium often noted for its high energy explotions

Doesn't matter how indestructible it is, the flood are gonna see a wall and go "Screw it lets go home"

idk, I heard somewhere that they build their ships out of rocks, like high charity. Other things? Probably some metal material. What else?

  • 04.23.2011 7:48 AM PDT

Covenant Shipyard

Metal is refined using plasma reactors.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

since they have no relativity to earths natural resources like metal, tin, aluminum, steel, iron and other matter.

> Implying that these materials will not exist elsewhere in the universe.

They will have these materials on thier homeworlds just like we do. In saying that, the armour mentioned for the Wraith tank was said (I believe in the Encyclopaedia) to be made of a polymer that Human Physicists once thought impossible to synthesize. I have no idea why it said physicists, that is usually the domain of chemists but whatever.

Bottom line is that we do not know.

I'd speculate some kind of Forerunner alloy, akin to what the Hunters have with their shields.

Isnt the Hunter´s armour plate basically the same armor their ships used?

I belive it is said in one of the novels.

Skull

I've always wondered but never bothered to ask because I asumed in the story it was unknown.

aka...frigates, crates, walls, barriers, elite armor, shoes, etc...

The reason why I ask this is not to give bungie a hard way to go, but to figure out what material they use since they have no relativity to earths natural resources like metal, tin, aluminum, steel, iron and other matter. I just find it strange that no one else asked this question before. I mean...bungie obviously had something in mind to name it...right? So if a Bungie employee is looking at this please tell me...ive been wanting to know this for a while now...and yes, I will loose sleep over it

There are infinite combinations of polymers even in real life. And we've discovered by now 118 elements on the periodic table, some of wich are relatively new (like Ununoctium, the 118th element, discovered in 2002 with a very short lifetime due to its instability).Physics and chemistry laws are valid everywhere in the universe, they may have just discovered other laws, new elements, and polymers.

Their material is refined and purple-hued cheramic... oak

Revenants, however, are made of little red shrooms that grow on Doisac.

it's probably reversed engineered from forerunner technology like most of the covenants weapons.
