Here's just a little interesting thing pertaining to Bnet that I found. It's basically a site that measures traffic of other sites. It also includes all sorts of other information, like reviews, sites people visit from there, number of links to site, and various other facts. What I found particularly interesting was this graph (scroll down). As you can see, site activity was slow, with a huge spike in activity corresponding with the release of Halo 2, and then the activity slowly but surely dribbling off to this point. As well as other features, this site allows you to compare the activity on this site to others, and see the activity level of almost any other site. Also, it mentions that Bnet has 'traffic rank' of 4,412. Just something I found. Enjoy, and see what you can do with it.

hey, that's pretty cool. Is that for every website?

and i wonder what the other spikes are for. I bet one was from the release of the multiplayer maps, but i dunno the other ones.

Yes, for most I believe. Just type the site address into the search bar at the top and click 'Get Traffic Details'.

Actually, it's only for the top 100,000 sites i believe. I checked some of the deep underground sites, and it said on the stats "Site not in top 100,000"

Heh. HBO follows the same pattern (although much smaller) but there was a huge spike back in April 2004 sometime. Was that when Halo 2 was announced or something?

Oh, and anyone know what the hell is with LiveJournal? Quite odd statistics there.

Hmm, Livejournal.com usage increased as B.net usage decreased, whilst Dominos.co.uk remained flat... Hmmm... Coincidence? ;)

Wasn't April '04 the start of the ILB thing?

First of all, this is the nicest find I've seen in awhile, I faind the results of the graph highly interesting. Props to you.

I remember that was the month that the Bungie Update was hosted in the Underground as well, possibly giving the forums a spike of activity as new guys came in to check things out.

More notably, that month the New Hotness was Launched. I think this is the main reason.

When Halo 3 is released (the secret next bungie project) then it will spike again. Cycles.

We were in the top 1,000 when Halo 2 came out. Looks like we're going downhill.

That graph was pretty cool.

I meant on HBO.

I'll be on my own side.

I don't recall any sort of event that triggered a spike on HBO during that time.

They haven't had any New Hotness or anything like that.

ILB started July 16th, '04... the same day that the Halo 2 cinematic trailer was released. However, that April was the New Hawtness launch.

-- Steve cannot account for HBO's traffic spike in early March of '04 off the top of his head. Must research later.

I've found yet another interesting feature of this site. Off the main page, there is a link to this page, which shows pictures of how Bnet has changed over the years. Great stuff.

Either people are being extremely sarcastic or extraordinarily supportive.

It's hard to tell on a forum.

In any case, enjoy the site.
