Subject: Who do you support? Innies or UNSC

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

Poll: Who do you support? Innies or UNSC  [closed]

UNSC:  84%

To me this is a difficult question. The Insurrectionists are pretty much America and the UNSC is England (yes I know somebody already said this.)
But the Innies did do some FUBAR stuff, but didn't our forefathers do the same? Such as taring and feathering tax collectors?
So who's side are you on?

I prefer the UNSC even though I'm American.

UNSC.

Comparisons can be brought up all day long, for both sides of the argument. No-one can ever be right. Your comparison just so happens to paint the innies in a good light.

I however have to say UNSC, I'm Earthean(?) and the heart of the UNSC in on Earth.

I'm not quite catching your comparisons, but I prefer the UNSC.

  • 04.24.2011 12:30 PM PDT

The Insurrection.

They just want every planet to be free with their own government instead of all of them lead by a central power. I want freedom and have the people around me to choose their own laws instead of standard issued laws made by the UNSC.

  • 04.24.2011 12:31 PM PDT

I am on the UNSC's side of the issue, though I do have Insurrectionist sympathies. I believe that if they want, they should be able to break off and form their own government, but I think the way they were going about trying to convince people of their cause was all wrong, they were essentially terrorists and whether they should have been allowed to leave or not, they were still bombing innocent civilians for no real reason, they lost all my support for that.

EDIT:
Yes, Americans did what some could consider terrorist activities, but from my understanding, which could very well be slightly tainted due to history books in our school and such being mostly written by Americans, what the Patriots were doing was similar to what the Blacks would do during the Civil Rights Movement a couple centuries later. And that was for the most part civil disobedience, meaning they broke the laws, but there was not much deadly violence involved. They weren't even trying to break away from England at first, they thought of themselves as English men and women and merely wanted more voice in the government and their rights as citizens of the British Crown honored.

I have sympathy for the rebels, but such movements generally are better equipped to fight for their freedom than they are to look after themselves when they have it.

The UNSC, in my opinion, is the only thing keeping the civilians out of harms way.
Of course diplomacy has a way of not working in these situations unless it comes in the form of a 600 ton tungsten slug. :/

  • 04.24.2011 12:35 PM PDT

The UNSC, because they're Americans, and I like America.

  • 04.24.2011 12:36 PM PDT

I have always prefered the UNSC.

  • 04.24.2011 12:44 PM PDT

Honestly, while the causes were similar, the rebels and UNSC could have been better off just sticking together. I don't see them fighting after the Covenant arrived and were defeated.

Hell, rebels on the rubble joined the UNSC as pilots, and one group helped Chief and crew repair their ship.

  • 04.24.2011 12:49 PM PDT

UNSC kicks ass!

  • 04.24.2011 2:08 PM PDT

I support the UNSC. While I understand and even sypathize with some of the things the Innies want, their methods are too extreme. Egypt proved you can accomplish change without violence.

  • 04.24.2011 3:19 PM PDT

UNSC, if the Insurrectionists gained command and something like the Covenant they would get wiped out, plus some Insurrectionists are fascists or communists.

They live in a Dream World, is the UNSC's power that keeps citizens safe.

This. i prefer the UNSC because i would rather have 1 united government; instead of a world being considered a state or so and a boundary of space being a "continent".

Innies, there fighting for there rights as human beings

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I never really understood what the Insurrectionists wanted. Did each planet unite against the UNSC, or did each just do there own thing? What type of government were the Innies so against?

Innies think the UNSC is a Fascist state, and they want more power in the Outer Colonies. Civil War type reasons.

They want each colony to self govern. Currently Humanity is governed from Earth and the Inner colonies, and many of the issues there are different from the issues in the outer colonies. The Inner colonies get more attention than the outer colonies as well. All of these means that they want self governance so that they can focus on their own issues and fend for themselves.

The UNSC also exploits the outer colonies and leaves the colonists nothing in return. Essentially, I imagine that they want the government shifted away from Earth and spread over all of Human space.

I fully support the motive just not how it was done. though i wonder after the war will they start that government in the absence of the UNSC and what will happen once the UNSC gets back to strength.

The cause/wants are pretty similar to America breaking free of England actually.

I am not familiar with that part of history to be honest, so I would not know.

Ah, not American and/or a history person? No problem lol.

Anyway, the Americans got tired of taxes and laws being imposed on them by the government over in England, who did not know the conditions and needs of the colonies. Thus, they declared themselves independent and rebelled.

Spartans never die... they just revert to last checkpoint.

the UN is a single, united government for humanity. Resistance must be crushed before such a miracle can disappear.
