And found a post I made that I wanted to repost.

I was arguing with my friends today about how Halo CE was the best in the series and how halo 3 has been dumbed down so much. It didn't work they wouldn't listen :/

I hear ya. But people nowadays have been softened up by things like regenerating health, near unlimited ammo for the best guns, and total recklessness of "go anywhere with no consequences" which could easily be summed up by saying Halo 3. Halo:CE is and always will be the greatest game ever, and if a game comes out and changes that. I will pull out 3 of my own vertebrae, curl my spine backwards, and eat my own ass.

Halo: Combat Evolved was graphically revolutionary. At the time it was released there hadn't been any other games with such visually pleasing and realistic graphics thus causing a wide separation between it and previous games.

The main reason Halo: Combat Evolved was graphically revolutionary was that it had visually pleasing and realistic graphics that captured players and immersed them in the moment like no other game had done before. Halo: Combat Evolved's realistic graphics made the action seem as though it was currently taking place.

Note:

The game play was excellent in Halo: Combat Evolved and may have also been revolutionary but I'm talking about Halo: Combat Evolved's revolutionary graphics.

But what do you think about the gameplay?

I am a firm believer that when bungie makes you spawn with a pistol, kill someone with a rocket launcher.

First things first. NO BUMPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next, in response to your first post, I have had many similar experiences with my best frien irl. All he sees in halo:CE is a lack of his favorite vehicles, weapons, and enemies. And he constantly cites the bad graphics. Maybe a remake would change his ideas *hint hint bungie*.

Oh bugger off. This is a slow forum. It's nice to see something that isn't a remake thread once in a while.

Precisely!

The thing I liked about the first Halo was that it was more of a survival story than a "TOTALLY DESTROY ALL" story. Like, The scattered weapons, Vehicles and team mates. In more recent Halo's, Everything is handed to you on a silver plater in mass amounts. This takes the fun out of the game and makes it so "Easy" that it begins to become monotonous.

I hope to see some goosers of the future. May DBM ride into the next decade! Mon Kings , Monflocks. Mon-Elites, and Golden Gooses unite and go FTW!

Which is exactly why levels like "Halo" and "Assault on the Control Room" felt so awesome. You had so much space to screw up in, but you always enjoyed solving the games puzzles in your own special way. I dislike the sort of linear approach of the other Halos, minus ODST (which is in its own category). I like that very open kind, sort of sandbox feeling of the game.
