There was a post up a while ago about users helping the mods... on it you guys gave us a link for reporting spam and flaming. Could we have that link stickied somewhere for ease of use? Or perhaps somethign like a roster of times when each mod is on (approximately) so we know who to contact?

Currently there is a load of spamming across the forums either to do with AVP, Halo2 or just threads and posts created by -blam!- Galore88 (AKA Davester88) and pong.

I'm just trying to lend a hand but telling people to stop spamming has a habit of not working.

It should be stickied. I'll lose that link by tommarow. Unless this thread is still up.

Try and remember HFCS, go to the Seventh Column link at the bottom of this page and search for HFCS.
That's just how I do it. Not trying to tell anyone what to do.
A permalink would be nice, though.

bah

Just click on a mod's name, goto their chapters, and click on HFCS. Slightly faster than going to the 7th colum. Or, just check the link in my sig.

True.

Rip Saw, that's a class chapter in your sig (Newb World).
I joined it, very cool.

Spam Do's and Don'ts

Do's:

1. IGNORE THE SPAMMER
2. Message SketchFactor, Achronos, Frankie, or one of the mods. Be sure to include a link to the problem post!
3. Wait patiently for the mods to come and clean up the mess.

Don'ts:

1. Reply to the spam in any way shape or form.
2. Start new posts or polls that have anything to do with the spammer.
3. Message the admins and moderators more than once. Keep in mind: You're not the only one to notice the spammer!

You'll note I put "Ignore the spammer" in bold. This is because of what a spammer is. A spammer's entire sense of purpose lies in angering the forum members and moderators. So, by replying to them with demands, empty threats, or even polite requests, you're confirming that the Spammer's goals are being achieved, and encouraging the spammer to continue. The same goes for starting a new post, such as "Do you hate this guy?" "This guy should be banned," or "Petition to get this guy to stfu." Not only are you telling the spammer "Hey, you're doing a good job, keep it up!" you're also contributing to the spam by posting more off topic threads to the forums.

Keep all this in mind the next (inevitable) time some immature brat comes across the forums. And for those of you that do attempt to alert the mods, thanks. =)

Yes this is a hard thing to do, but everyday I'm becoming better at it.
