"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

I think Mclees told us in a weekly update why Noble is ranked that high, but can't remember the reason anymore.

My Grandfather was a Desert Ranger, my Father was a Veteran Ranger in the NCR. My father was killed by Caesar's Legion and they took my Brother. It's now my responsibility to uphold the mantle of the Rangers and avenge my Father and find my Brother.

Noble 6 should've been the leader for NOBLE.

They have higher then normal ranks so they cannot be diverted from their missions by some random Lt or sergeant.

Um... not trained at a young age OP? Last I checked Carter and the rest got training at a damn young age compared to normal militaries.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

I doubt he has leadership experience.

I always thought that it would have been cool if during the campaign the game would recongnise the actual rank you had obtained through cR and use that, instead of simply refering to you as Lieutenant.

The problem there is that it's possible to reach too high a rank. Currently I'm a Brig, so I would outrank anyone who gives you orders during the game.

He started train at age 11, but he trained the same and started at the same time as hes comrade who were 4 to 9, he was just older.
He was a born leader, and since he and Kat survived several suicide missions under his command he rose quick, he just couldn't be higher rank because they needed Hurban Holland to outrank him.

"The Sabre is prepped and ready for battle, Mythic!"

"Could use some help over here, Forerunner!"

^ exactly. "No, I don't think I want to do that Colonel Holland, you do it." "Move over Keyes, I'm driving this puppy."

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Carter, Emile and Jun were about 10/11 when they started Spartan-III training, another significant breach in canon as S-III candidates were all aged 4-6 when put into training. :/

Not that i am defending that issue, but couldn't prolonged time in slipspace be a solution to that issue?

Haha! It COULD work though, dialogue-wise. Sangheili-style; "Victory is secured, not from the throne, but from the front lines."

Possibly, but Carter is visibly older than the others. He looks like he's well into his 30's, cryo prevents ageing.

It seems to me recruiting a candidate as old as Carter was would screw with the augmentation timeline. Ghosts of Onyx states that the average age of the Spartan-IIIs was 11-12. In order to successfully augment the candidate had to be right on the cusp of puberty, requiring hormone therapy in order to begin the process early.

With Carter so old they would have to begin augmentation almost immediatly after recruitment, without the training and conditioning the other Spartan's training.

Carter was 11. You're still right, but he's the oldest out of all the Spartans.

"What do you hear?"
"Nothing but the rain."
"Then grab your gun and bring in the cat."
"Boom, boom, boom!"

This. The high rank that Carter has means that Noble has as much freedom as possible when on the field.
