true, I don't get why people hate them.

  • 04.25.2011 12:30 PM PDT

Silly armour, useless AI, Jorge while my favorite of the bunch is a terrible SII, (Although I have my own theories about him to explain that), retardedly high ranks for infantry (not that it matters, in Exodus a trooper still gives you orders :S) and the fact they do nothing on use during the Reach incursion.

It's not NOBLE people hate, it is the way Bungie portrayed them.
I am personally a fan of NOBLE, even Kat has won me over god help me, but I don't like H:R, which I understand can be misinterpreted as a hatred of NOBLE.

Some people get annoyed that they have reduced damage so they aren't a big asset in combat (remember Emile during the Pillar of Autumn?).

Others don't like that they were poorly developed characters (except Jorge). Some don't like that they look ridiculous riding into battle clad in blue.

Feh, what do people expect? Mass Effect style character development for a cast of characters in a single, medium short FPS campaign?

People hating the characters due to the AI is utter stupidity IMO though.

Edit: Poorly developed characters is the weakest argument for FPS campaigns. Honestly, over the halo trilogy you probably got as much development as the first Mass Effect game. FPS campaigns tend to just be too short and not as focused on character development.

Now if it was an RPG, or an RTS like Dawn of War 2 or Starcraft 2, I'd understand.

I'm just writing what I've seen, and you make a good point in that there isn't enough time to develop the characters. I would say that the characters in ODST were better, there was some development, but the real difference is that they're just more compelling characters. I am biased because of my love for Firefly.

That and they all have experience working together. That crew loved halo, and were good friends in real life so the voice acting really matched a squad that's been together.

Though yeah, I'll agree those are the two most common hate complaints I've seen toward Noble Team, and that's my opinion. Both, to me, seem just stupid.

  • 04.25.2011 1:09 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Because they were all a severe detriment to my Reach campaign experience. Except Jorge kinda. His wild firing actually kind of helped get Elite's shields down.

<3 Jorge

the idea of noble team is awesome
in the game, unfortunately, they were useless. I know that halo is all about being the most badass soldier on the battlefield, but if you're gonna have five other spartans with you, they should be able to...help, somehow

So you hate the AI, not the characters? That's cool.

I can kinda agree. If they use the ODST (Charge and kill -blam!- when you do) style AI, it's hard to notice if they are helping really.

correct. noble team kicks ass, their in-game AI kinda sucks. I know that Carter, Jun and Jorge got a few kills throughout the campaign, the others were pretty much useless. I just think the game would have been a little better if the odds were a little more stacked against you and you had to work with noble team to actually progress at a decent pace

  • 04.25.2011 1:22 PM PDT

I will say that when I did my solo Legendary run they were useful for stopping bullets that otherwise would have been fired at me. They were also capable of getting the odd kill if left alone long enough.

  • 04.25.2011 1:31 PM PDT

Because they're boring archetypes that are underdeveloped, that's why we hate them.

'Boring archetypes' which are a normal squad setup.

know why I hate them?

Because they stole this game from Red Team. They were the real spartans of Reach. not some ass backwards reject spartan III squad that doesn't even make sense.
Halo Reach would have been 100x better if it weren't for these losers.

Noble 6 is a possible exception.

This game didn't belong to Red Team. From the START, they said it wouldn't cover the same events of the book.

No, actually. ME's characters are boring to me. Halo's characters change and devolope more imo.

But Reach's story was constantly stated by Bungie from the get-go to be a character driven story. If they suck, the story sucks.

military roles=/=character personality.

At all. Thats a bull -blam!- excuse for bland writing.

Oh, yeah from the trilogy? Aka, got three/two games of development?

A single FPS campaign will not have the character development of an RPG.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I don't hate Noble Team. I was glad they at least had personality like the Buck's squad and weren't just copies of Chief.

We spend three games with Chief and all we get are the occasional one-liner with no character development. Chief is a terrible character. Noble Team, not even close.

  • 04.25.2011 2:42 PM PDT

I like Noble team(probably Kat the most) but they didn't really get a chance to develop character wise as much as I would have liked.

Neither did Chief and he had THREE games to do so.
