Subject: Why is there so much hate for noble team?

They remind me too much of Buck's squad, but I still like them. Carter had an amazing voice :>

Something that annoyed me about Carter was, despite the fact that we were told time and again that he was the leader, he never seemed to be leading. Instead, for the the majority of the game, he sat in Falcons or secure locations and gave orders.

I would've thought that, to be a leader of an elite Spartan team, you would have to lead by example, and from the front.

I honestly believe that to a certain extent people dislike Noble Team because the 1) Spartan IIIs "are infeerioz 2 Sprttan Ils", or they wanted/expected Blue Team.

  • 04.25.2011 10:16 PM PDT

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

I don't hate Noble Team. I just don't think that they were given that much character development, so in the end when they died, we didn't really feel that bad about it (except for Kat and maybe Brawney Man.)
It would be no different if in ODST Romeo died, it would be like "Ok he died, big deal." If it was Spartans that were from the books then maybe I would have felt more emotion.
I guess if you think deep down about it, the thought of Noble Team does seem more emotional.
Carter, Jun, and Emile are the only living survivers of Alpha Co.
Carter and Kat possibly had a relationship (Bungie said). So when I saw Carter holding Kat's body, it felt more sad and more emotional.

That's what bugs me about it, people now have a bad image of Spartan III's due to Noble Team. I don't like Noble Team but they were given those ranks and armor for a reason, not because they looked pretty in it.

Their armor made them look like power rangers, but Bungie needed a way to have players easily tell them apart so its excusable. It still bugs me though.

Underdeveloped. I know that a FPS can't have the same level of character development as a RPG but Bungie should have known better than to try to make a character driven story without having enough time to fully flesh them out before killing them off.

S3's got a bad rep/image because idiots don't look past Ackerson viewing them as expendable. Thus, that's all they see or care about.

Signatures are for squares.

Noble team was horribly developed, had to stretch and bend canon just to make their existence even feasible(Jorge STILL hasn't been explained.)

And, I, as well as thousands of other people, were expecting this game to be about the Spartan II's. You know, the Spartan's who's "home planet" actually is Reach. Bungie said this game would explore the Spartans, but there wasn't ANY of that in game.

Oh, and I wanted Red/Blue team.

  • 04.26.2011 4:03 AM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The only characters in Noble Team I liked were Kat and Jorge. The rest were bland, archetypal and boring because there was absolutely nothing going on to make me care about any of them. There was no point to the story until The Package where you finally do something that matters and even that was pulled off awfully.

A story about the Spartan-IIs of Red and Blue Team would have been much better. Bungie should have looked at what they did well in ODST, switching perspectives of the characters on different missions. One mission I might be Fred defending a generator for an SMAC, the next I could be John aboard the Circumference with Linda and James. It would be much better because a lot people know about these characters (when Noble Team was first announced people thought "lolwut", I remember Caboose's thread in the Reach forum about how being Red Team would be much more believable).

There was nothing in the story of Reach which made me care about the characters or their deaths. Bungie could have stuck to their gunsand made an excellent campaign using what they learned from ODST's storyline (which was one of the best in the series). But no, instead they chose this locomotive bastardly turd (kudos to whoever gets the reference) to replace it.

I conclude on this: Reach = the Phantom Menace of Halo.

I like Noble team(probably Kat the most) but they didn't really get a chance to develop character wise as much as I would have liked.

Neither did Chief and he had THREE games to do so.

What you don't understand, because you hatred for MC blinds you.Is that Noble were supposed to be characters with awesome development, people you would care for. That's what Bungie said all the time. But it failed.

The reason why MC is like that is because Bungie wanted that we can imagine ourselfs in his shoes.Even with that millions still love him because he is badass, relationship with Cortana,...

Actually, I don't hate MC and I'm fairly sure Cobra doesn't either. It's hate on the way he's treated and referenced.

Honestly, I feel the same way. Noble Team overall actually had character, unlike the chief who sometimes felt like a robot.

Not about you,but i think decepticon is biased against Chief when looking through the forums.

I think if i can get honestly saddened over jorge dying or shocked and felt like i was punched in the chest with Kat's demise then bungie did something right. Yes i was sad when Kat died. I said it

I don't hate Noble team, but I do have a strong dislike of their AI in combat.

I swear if Kat runs me over one more time...

I felt a genuine ping of sadness when Kat died, I think because Bungie hinted at a possibility of Kat opening up to the player and then struck her down suddenly. That whole cutscene I thought was brilliant.
