Used almost 9 gigs of my 12gig monthly usage in those 4 games (about a hours time)...

Oh joy. Never putting this horrible cheater infested game in my Xbox ever again.

Best plan available in my area. $80 a month.

So some little bad kid cost me over $60 because he didn't want to get raped...

LOL. I get unlimited 50mb and I have DDoS protection, I would advise getting the same thing since most XBL "hax0rs" just use shell booters.

I've never heard of this kind thing before.

Does anyone know how they do it, or more importantly why?

Host booting? You can kick anyone you want out of the game? So, if you're getting beat, you can kick a player from the enemy team or just kick the entire team.

Players get banned for it eventually though, most of the time. You need two programs really to view IP's and then a shell booter to do the hitting. I'm not going to give you more details though.

There is no plan better then what I have IN MY AREA. The plans do NOT go any higher.

This DDoS "protection" sounds interesting. I'm guessing it's an ISP thing?

p.s this is my speedtest result. Ping is higher then normal though.

Calm down bro.
DDoS protection isn't supplied by your ISP, it's something you can get for your router. Basically when you start receiving too many pings to handle your router stops accepting them and instead bounces them back to the sender or just blocks them altogether. Which is quite funny because when some people try to boot me they end up booting themselves haha!
Anyway I think that's how it works, could be wrong, but I know it's definately your router which protects you not your ISP.

Goats have hooves, I have thumbs. I can hold a gun and shoot the said goat.

Is it built into it or do you plug it in or something? I've never heard of it before

Thanks for the enlightenment.

I have more than likely fallen victim to this practice completely oblivious to foul play.

Yes, it is your router that has the DDoS protection. Mine, when recieving too many packects or requests just drops them and and wont respond to any further requests.

Did a little research and my modem/router has DDoS protection aswell (thats why I don't get booted offline when I get DDoS'd) but it still counts that network flooding against my usage...

You have to pay by internet usage?

U Mirin?

Why don't you do any work on your chest or legs or something? You look like a cartoon character.

I have unlimited 30Mb/s DL and 20Mb/s UL, for like $50 a month. How the hell did you get duped into paying $80 a month for terrible internet?

IT IS THE BEST AVAILABLE INTERNET IN MY AREA.

It's this or dial-up. You choose.

Perhaps you don't understand that, how about...

No.

I used $60 as an arbitrary figure. Basically, roughly 75% of my monthly usage was essentially stolen. 75% of $80 is $60

Abusing people who don't fully understand is not a good way to get advice.

My advice would be to contact your ISP and explain the situation, perhaps they will be able to offer you a solution, on the other hand do some more investigation into your router settings, I'm sure there will be a setting somewhere to restrict the amount of packets you can receive per game, the downside to this is if you're playing someone from long distance there's a change it'll pass your packet amount and disconnect you from the game.

I will be contacting my ISP some time tomorrow.

As for this whole DDoS protection, my router does have it. THe problem is, it only stops it at the router, it doesn't stop it at the ISP so while I might not get bumped off line, I do have all my usage allowance used up because it still counts as used data for the ISP.

Anyway, I hope to get this malicious internet attacks data usage deleted from my allowance. Or get my allowance increase this month to compensate.

You could turn DDoS protection off, then when you get too many packets you'll be knocked offline but you'll still have all your internet usage? T|t-for-tat at the end of the day.

Best option would be to get a lawyer and have the kid charged since DDoS attacks are a federal crime :)
