Trussingdoor is pretty kewl. He fires lasers and doesn't afraid of anything.

I don't get how Elites work. Mostly, how they talk. I mean really, They have no tongue, and their mouths cannot be fully closed, as they have nothing covering the bottom, even their lower mandibles when closed leave a hole in the bottom of their head. Plus, they should probably drool all over the place with no lower jaw. Even with the "omg dude they prlly haz translators it'z teh future, geez" It doesnt work. I've heard them speak, not just combat growls, but actual conversation level sounds with flying cam in firefight, and they make sounds that you need a tongue to make. How can they speak?

The organs that make it possible for you to speak and contain your saliva are probably located in the throat.

This. Plus remember, they don't actually speak English- it's always translated. Their natural language may not require a tongue or mouth with the ability to close.

Yes but I've heard a general speak their language with flying cam. I think it want something like "Musishkwea" or something. I cant make the sound myself. But a tongue is needed for all languages, because it is used to control the way a sound comes out. And also, if they can produce saliva then without a lower jaw it would drip out freely. A mouth that doesnt fully close has no need for saliva.

This thread needs Marty. He'd have an explanation for how, if at all, you can mimic their sounds and if a tongue is involved.

They do have a tongue. It was mentioned briefly in the Cole Protocol. Their mouths are behind their mandibles I would imagine.

They're Aliens! They don't have to follow "our" rules of what is a normal creature.

I mean if they want a tail then they will get a tail, we have no say. If they want to speak through means that makes no sense to us, then who are we to stop them, its their right.

Considering you only read 20 pages (assuming you aren't being sarcastic)... you missed out on the better part of the book.

  • 04.26.2011 5:16 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Their actual language is based around sounds they can actually produce. Other times it's translated when you're hearing them say things.

Because I really needed to know that, not once, but twice. Thanks. Opinion based facts are best facts.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

They do have mouths, they're behind the mandibles.

the spartan helmets COULD also have built-in translators. (or maybe just MC's

  • 04.26.2011 7:27 PM PDT

think about it... they may have organs we can't even imagine... imagine the shock we had when realised that grunts breath methane... what makes they're lungs tick? same thing for they're mouths

They may not have saliva so they wouldn't drool and they most likely have organs in their throats that when combined with their mandible movements allow them to form words.

Pretty much this. I mean, Engineers have an entire language based solely from whistling, 'chirps' and such.

Kinda like the joke in one of the Star Trek movies about aliens. Kirk's in a fistfight with another prisoner, and kicks the guy's knee. After the alien falls to the ground in agony, a shape-shifter points out to kirk "Not all species keep their -blam!- organs in the same place."

Basically, Aliens don't have to work bodily like humans.

don't judge a book by its cover, Cole Protocol is great at about half-way in.

They ave, probably, some sort of internal tongue, after the mouth. The other thing, who tells you they even have saliva, they're aliens.

  • 04.27.2011 8:19 AM PDT

Well, they're aliens. They're not like humans. For all you know their body functions very different from us. They could probably have weird organ placements or worst... extra organs.
