Haven't you noticed when Spartans turn, they turn in very fine 'increments.' I mean how can't you see it?

Reach added motion blur to fix that.

Also scope into full zoom with the sniper, then try and move your aim extremely slowly. I'm pretty sure the reticule will move in small 'blocks'.

Not sure if that's at all relevant but whatever.

Yeah there's a bunch of weird -blam!- going on with the framerate. It's just fine though for what it is. It is not 30fps nor 60fps.

I thought it ran at 30fps? On average I mean, barring any glitches/big explosions.

Not if I can notice the difference between two frames it isn't.

As usual with Bungie there is some trickery at work to make it look like the game is running fluidly.

I feel fantastic and I'm, still alive.
While you're dying I'll be, still alive.
And when you're dead I'll be, still alive.
Still Alive.
Still Alive.

Call of Duty runs on 60fps where as Halo runs on 30fps.

That has nothing to do with Halo 3 running noticeably slow. Your eyes cannot see anything above 25fps. So to the human eye there is no difference between something running at 25, 30, 60 or 900 fps.

*Some* things are running at 30fps. Like plasma glow and explosions. The effects are at 30fps. The rest of the game isn't.

I have no idea what that framerate is but it's consistent so it really doesn't matter.

Wrong. I can tell you firsthand that I can tell the difference between Halo Reach ( 30fps ) and Call of Duty ( 60fps ).

Maybe you don't notice it, but I can.

I don't think Reach is running at 30 unique frames per second either. They use motion blur to smoosh the frames together in your mind.

It works so it really doesn't matter.

But now we're just picking nits.

I've heard it runs at 30. I honestly don't think games would be very playable anything below 25. I used to play Counterstrike on the PC and I typed in a console command to show the current framerate. When I played on a crap PC I think it was around the 18 mark and it was awful.

Maybe technically 30 fps. But there's like one frame and then an interpolated motion blur frame then another unique frame.

I don't notice any slow-down in Reach unless you're sniping across Asylum or whatever that map is called. I haven't played Reach in a coon's age.
