Well is it? Personally, Reach doesn't really appeal to me its a game built off gimmicks and I never could of envisioned a thing like armor lock or jet pack in Halo game play.

What about you guys is Reach the direction you hoped for Halo to go in?

The thing is, its dificult to envision anything. Halo CE was and still is unique. Any game that bungie made afterwards had a gigantic milestone to acheive before it could even be considered a good sequal. Lots of things have been added over the games lifespan and not all of them are necessary, but in order to keep up with other similar games these things are almost demanded. Every new game will in some way evolve, thats the way it is.
But I personly will often go back and play Halo CE because thats were it all began and is where the heart is.

Yes, a thousand times yes. Also, I've been wanting things like Jet Packs in Halo since the second one. Reason being that there was a screenshot on the back that made it look like one of the players had one. It was just an optical illusion.

Jesus loves you! But I think you're a -blam!-

No. Bungie shouldn't have changed so much about the Halo franchise that made players fall in love with it in the first place. In my opinion. Reach blows.

To be honest, no. Reach had a terrible story and the jackasses who worked on it threw away the existing timeline for what I can only believe is to make the plot worse for some reason. And it wasn't even exciting. It was almost as bad as Tiberium Twilight. Almost.

In addition to its terrible story, gameplay was dull. It was a bit better than Halo 2 and Halo 3, but not by much. Health was extremely minor, and mechanics punished the player at every step. From Elites with instant melees to hunter-killer plasma overcharge even to the -blam!- Grunts, everything was built from the ground up to remove any and all fairness and fun.

Firefight was a blown chance, and multiplayer is shallow. Just like the previous couple games, it's based exclusively around numbers, whoring power weapons and spawn-camping.

Nope. Didn't surpass the The Fall of Reach in story, action, character or anything. Didn't surpass or equal CE in it's fast paced intense multiplayer. I would have enjoyed Reach more if they followed the book and increased damage on all default weapons.

When we began to play Halo, we took an oath!
According to our station! All without exception!
On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons, we swore to uphold the Seventh Column!
Even to our dying breath!
Those who would break this oath are heretics! Worthy of neither pity nor mercy!
We shall grind them into dust! Wipe them as excrement from our boots!
And continue our march to glorious salvation!

The Halo trilogy was already at its best, it needed no change.
Bungie was wrong to do what nobody but new-to-halo players wanted.

They tried to move away from past things, even though those were what people wanted the most.

Sure there were good things, forge 2.0, firefight 2.0 and the armoury, but for me the original Halo experience, most felt in Combat Evolved and Halo 2, just wasn't there.
