I've been playin' Halo 1 on my Mac a lot these days and I've always wondered why there are servers with zero players. Would any computer expert like to explain?

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

No one joins them.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

In PC gaming, we use dedicated servers. These are servers provide the central point of gameplay in an online environment without designating any one player as a host. This way, there's no advantage other than being closer to the server or having a better Internet connection. Because dedicated servers don't require any players connected to run the game, a server can have 0 players.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Running any kind of server program on your computer opens it up to being attacked. You're better off playing on a professionally hosted server.

You don't have to see them, go to filter options and disable empty servers
