------- Possible Spoilers of halo backstory and info from "The Cryptum" -------
I don't own "The Cryptum" and just gathered this info
from the HaloPedia mostly. I know its old, but its new
to me and I have questions and comments about this
Halo backstory info.
1. If the Humans discovered a cure for the Flood, how could the forerunners not ? Was it destroyed in the Human/Forerunner war ? Did the flood adapt and become resistant to the cure with a sort of genetic counter ?
2. It is interesting to note that the ancient Humans "went to war" with the Forerunners. It seems to indicate that humanity was significantly more powerful compared to their current state in the years 2550 etc... To even be able to wage war with the forerunners they must have been on par with the covenant ( at the very least ) despite the fact that they still suffered heavy losses. Your thoughts on the Humans capabilities as a powerful ancient race ?
3. In would be amazing for Future Halo games to focus on a narractive and following and playthrough of the ancient events including the first "Human/Flood War" , "Human/Forerunner War" and perhaps with hints as to the details of the "Forerunner/Precursor Wars"
4. This is just a theory However I suspect that the Precursors developed the flood in order to "punish" the races of the galaxy for the Forerunner Rebellion and destruction of their race. When the humans found out from the ( supposedly ) last surviving Precursor about the origin of the flood, it is written that many of them committing suicide.
In order for that to happen, the origin of the flood must invlove circumstances of horrific implications. Did the humans find out that the Precursors sent out an inter Galactic death sentence to all sentient beings because of violence and war ?
Now I know the Flood wasn't a total death sentence, but a severe suppression of free will as we know it. A sort of warped Utopia of connected beings like the Borg from Star Trek. ( btw I -blam!- hate star trek its kinda -blam!-. )
4. Any theories as to what the Origin of the flood could ( in regards to ( the powder/their purpose/their creation/ and their creators ) be would be most welcome. I want to know what could be so horrible that people would kill themselves over that news.
Your thoughts and theories are welcome. Thanks.
1. I think the main point of humanity finding a cure and the forerunners not is to significant that they were the true "protectorates of the galaxy". while the forerunners thought of them to be apes. Humanity destroyed all the ships the flood came on and every knowledge of the cure just before the forerunners defeated them to spite them.
A single Prophet was said to know the cure but faber had unintentionally killed him when he attacked Janjur Qom.
2. Didact himself said that humanity was on the same level as the forerunners, even then they were only fighting with 1/3 of their total population. The Didact himself wonders what the war would have really been if they were fighting with a full population.
and with 1/3 pop they fought the forerunners for about 100 years.
3.indeed it would as halo has many conflicts to cover.
Precursor/forerunner wars, humanity/prophet war, humanity/flood war, forerunner/flood war, WW3, rainforest wars.
4. well the precursor could just being saying that to spite the forerunners seeing how people say "this is what you get" when something unfortunate happens as if they had done it themselves.
And i doubt the precursor told them the "truth" about the flood, that wouldn't make me kill myself. I would want to kill myself if somebody told me that my enemy and the person i hate the most is my father...
5. I feel like greg wouldn't do something that nearly everybody thinks.
the flood could be a natural lifeform that the precursors released on the forerunners, or something created by a completely other race for the same purpose.
whatever the origins what the flood does is natural for it to do. which is why they gravemind says it's being punished for something it doesn't deserve.
I think you hit this one pretty spot on Grey.
About your point four, that's kinda how I'm seeing the matter. It seems more likely to me that the Flood was not created by the Precursors (I prefer to think of it as not created at all...much scarier that way) and the Prisoner is just speaking as you suggested. Basically a "serves you right, here's your payback" sort of comment.
