I just got Halo 2 for Windows Vista from a friend of mine, and when I go to install it, I'm getting a lot of grief from Windows Live.
I install the game, then try to play it. As soon as I get to the main screen and enter (as in the screen where it says Press Any Key to Start) Windows Live pops up. I enter my info and try to sign in, and it says it's downloading my account. It goes much quicker than it does on my 360, which already sets off some alarms in my head. It later told me it didn't download my account correctly and I'd have to reinstall, but that's not the main problem.
After I "sign in" it tells me I have an update to download. I click download and it takes me to my desktop, then to the install wizard. It "installs" the update, then restarts Halo 2.
Then it all starts over COMPLETELY.
Windows Live doesn't remember me ever playing the game and starts up again like it's the first time I'm running the game. It then tries to get me to sign in, then install the same update again. I've done this multiple times and it continues to follow the same pattern over and over. I can't even play the game or get past the main screen because Windows Live keeps pestering me about an update, BUT DOESN'T ACTUALLY UPDATE ANYTHING!
Anybody else ever have this problem? Know any solutions?
