50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

It did on PC. And lots of people still play it.

Heck, around 4000-5000 people across all versions are on at once. Can you say that about h2? Xlink Kai = 150 at peak time = Nope.avi.

Cool, i could give to shiits less about those 4000-5000 the only smart ones are those 150 on Halo 2 on Xlink Kai.

Have you ever been on Kai? The only people there are people who don't know how to shoot and who lag with high pings and host. Just because people don't play your favorite game doesn't make them dumber.

In Halo PC, you have dedi servers where you can join a game where you live and not get 500 ping.

Oh, and I thought bypassing the word filter to flame was against the rules.

lol

Many years ago I used to belong to the IGN forums and every once in a while we would riot another forum or another website's forum. It was a lot of fun but we eventually grew out of it.

Halo 2 is my least favourite of the four but it does still have unique elements which make it fun. In a way it was like a beta for Halo 3, like Halo ODST was for Halo Reach (scoped pistol, no BR, firefight, no equipment etc.).

It did have the worst campaign in terms of level design, but that was because he campaign was rushed. Halo 2 had better vehicles, covenant allies, better sentinels and larger battles. Thus it had the potential of having a very good campaign indeed. Blame microsoft for rushing Bungie.

Are you serious?

It had the best level design it was the only Halo game in which you could explore as much as you wanted. Unlike Halo 3 and the following games it was very non linear making it truly special. I personally felt like that every level was designed perfectly and every level had its on unique atmosphere about it.

I respect your opinion but I just can not agree with you at all there has been no other Halo that has had such great level designs.

This makes me LOL.

All Halos are Linear. If you want a non-linear game, try Crysis or Far Cry or GTA.

Oh, and one more thing. Disagreeing =/= Trolling. Many fanboys fail to see that.

But judging from the posts here, it's offical. The Halo "Fandom" is worse then the Sonic Fandom. I know certain people here were like this to Reach.

Implying the online population of a game determines how good it is.

Good games tend to have more players over time. H2 is newer then Halo PC and yet is dead.

I was speaking in comparison to the other Halo games, Halo 2 was a lot less linear.

In my opinion I would call this thread trolling, coming to a forum in which you have to know contains fans of Halo 2 and posting something that is going to get under the skin of some people.

Halo 2 reigned top of the online charts and leaderboards for multiple years with one of the largest online popoulation for consoles and computers at that time.

Agreed with Grumpy. Coming into a certain forum just to say the specific subject the forum is based around to be "Overrated" or "Crap" would be identified as trolling. The thread was made to cause h2 fans to flame.

That being said, I'm going to shed some of my opinion on certain points:

Halo: Combat Evolved's Population vs Halo 2's (PC for both)

Halo PC's population is definitely larger than Halo 2's. There are a few reasons behind this. One, the porting job on Halo 2 Vista was absolutely terrible. Anybody here will agree to that. Though I do find tons of fun in playing that game, I will easily admit that Hired Gun could have done a much better job with it. Two, the Windows Live system is the most repulsive thing that PC gamers have seen in a while. Compared to Steam it is left in the dust. Definitely seeing as though Microsoft was trying to make PC gamers pay for that. We know better than to do that. Three, it's harder to pirate Halo 2 PC. As most of us know, a large portion of Halo PC players are people who pirated the game through programs such as uTorrent/BitTorrent. It's much harder to do that with Halo 2.

Halo: Combat Evolved not being as free roaming

Truth is, I always felt that Halo: Combat Evolved's levels felt more expansive/free roaming. One large example is "The Silent Cartographer". Another one is "Assault on the Control Room" Now, most of the levels on Halo 2 were more expansive if you used tricks to get out of the levels. (Such as the tricks the lovely community at HIH brought to us) In Halo: Combat Evolved it was just in gameplay that you'd see these expansive places. Most memorable to me is whenever you walk out of the drop pod on Installation 04 for the first time.

Anyways, sorry to leave that wall of text behind and if I wasted your time. (:

Wow, good read doc. Your are right about the 'in-game' free roaming and I'd never looked at it in that way. Plus, the old HIH trickers were still fully involved with CE when the end came. How old is that game, 9 years?

Funny, I had not realized (since I only play console) that the porting was bad for H2 and is not for CE. This makes a world of difference as far as stating popularity by numbers only. Sometimes the numbers aren't there if the product (porting) is bad.

Well if you mean the worst of the series I would agree because it has the worst maps and campaign, but all the halo games are great. You can't say any of them are overrated.

I applaud your ability and willingness to state your opinion and not offend anyone at the same time.

Although I disagree with your opinion I cannot argue with it because it is your opinion and therefor has as much credence as mine.

Oh, I know they were involved with Halo: Combat Evolved stuff as well, it's just that the h2 stuff was always the best. H2 was rich in that area for fans to have fun with.

Yeah, porting can either make or break again. The only bad things Gearbox did when porting Halo to the PC was the netcode/the shaders. Hired Gun had an uncountable list of screw ups.

Combat Evolved's success on the Xbox is almost entirely credited to its Campaign. It didn't have online gameplay like the rest of them did. Saying that no one cares about the Campaign to any of the Halo games is an ignorant statement.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Not true. Combat Evolved did had the most expansive campaign which is why a lot of people like it, but a lot of people played LAN. Relevant!.

If you had an xbox back then you would know that people did play CE for its multiplayer not just its campaign. In fact most played it more for the multiplayer than the campaign. It had things like Blood Gultch, Hang Em High, and the most balanced weapons in the series. None of those things have ever been matched in a newer Halo game.

So when you Halo 2 fanboys do the same thing it's ok, but when I actually owned Halo CE in it's prime I am told I am wrong. I got it right after it came out with the Xbox v1 and when my friends came over we almost always played Halo multiplayer. At least my opinion is informed.

I did play LAN parties with Halo: Combat Evolved when it first arrived. I know that people played it for the multiplayer, but, what I really meant was that in many respects the first Halo was truly focused on making the Campaign great. I said nothing about Multiplayer lacking what so ever. I love Halo: Combat Evolved's multiplayer more than any other Halo. In fact, I play it more than any other Halo still. I've always played it more than any other Halo.

There was more time to be spent on Campaign than Multiplayer if you owned the Xbox version of Halo back in 2001 - 2004. You weren't at LAN Parties 24/7. I know that because I lived it.
