Right there he did the same thing and I owned Halo CE almost right after it came out with the Xbox v1.
What's your point? Where's the facts, Jack, you owned CE since it's inception....go you.

There was more time to be spent on Campaign than Multiplayer if you owned the Xbox version of Halo back in 2001 - 2004. You weren't at LAN Parties 24/7. I know that because I lived it.

I kinda doubt you lived it, because I did and all my friends would want to do is want to play multiplayer. The amount of time we spent on campaign was so little compared to multiplayer. I loved the campaign and exploring it, but it was not the same as the multiplayer.

I mean do you even know that Halo CE was MLG? MLG started because of CE. I guess because people were playing Campaign all the time...that makes sense.

In fact most played it more for the multiplayer than the campaign.
You don't know that, how can we take you seriously when you take your own opinion and pretend it's fact?

So when you Halo 2 fanboys do the same thing it's ok, but when I actually owned Halo CE in it's prime I am told I am wrong. I got it right after it came out with the Xbox v1 and when my friends came over we almost always played Halo multiplayer. At least my opinion is informed.
You and a couple of friends, lol. That's your confirmation of facts?

Of course, because your experience was different than mine means you doubt I played Halo back in 2001. What I'm saying is that when I was with friends we played Multiplayer. We hardly ever played Campaign together, but, I wasn't with friends on the Xbox constantly. If I were with them half the time we'd be doing stuff outside and half inside. When I was alone I'd play Campaign. Just saying there was more time that I spent alone on Campaign than multiplayer.

Yes, I do know MLG started on Halo: Combat Evolved. I remember watching tournaments/being in them. (Local tournaments. Nothing big like MLG) I know there was a lot centered around Multiplayer, but, in my personal experience there was more experience in Campaign. Just because I spent more time on games when online than when with friends.

I think a few friends is more evidence than no friends.
Here is a little word on H2 vs H3 from an MLG Pro:

MLG: So far what are your favorite elements of Halo 3?

Ghostayame: Personally, I enjoy the sniping. It requires a lot more skill in Halo 3 than compared to Halo 2 and even Halo 1. There's hardly any auto-aim on the sniper and the hit-boxes are much smaller, too. Thus, you can tell who can actually snipe well in Halo 3. You also have to take your shots wisely because long range carbines and battle rifles aren't as strong off-host as they were in Halo 2.

Besides the sniping, I like the Team Slayer variant. It seems that Halo 3 is making a little flashback to Halo:CE., where TS was the premier gametype. However, I still enjoy the oddball game types, too. The AR is also a great starting weapon in comparison to the SMG in Halo 2. I believe that Halo 3 came out with much more preparation than Halo 2 did.

We would play sports outside too, but typically my friends would be over for about 5-6 hours at a time. I understand you feel that there was more experience in campaign, but I doubt that they would still have LANs on MLG Pro.com for CE if it was not the multiplayer that kept them coming back for more. It's still good after all these years and I don't think you played it with other people much.

There was one MLG CE tournament and that was in 2004, look it up.

Fail. The first MLG tournament started in 2003. relevant The early tournaments were not kept track of until the national championship. There were tournaments before MLG that housed CE as well that went under different names, but eventually led to the creation of MLG. CE created MLG.

Fail. You need to look it up. I can't find the history where they had all the ViDocs of every tournament since they updated their site, and the first MLG tornament started in 2003. relevant The early tornaments were not kept track of and there was 1 major one before the national championship. MLG just didn't keep the information for them. So all the official MLG tornaments housed CE as well as tornaments before when they went under different names and were not as organized.
Just saying this is what i found

*facepalm* Wikipedia. They might have good articles on musicians or politicians and stuff like that, but I doubt they know anything about MLG. They wouldn't know to fix it if it was wrong.

The only tournaments they seem to mention are the national championships anyway. How does that prove that CE was only at 1 event.

CE never had online, nice try though, idiot and dont even try to say anything, remember our little chat?

Idiot. There's Halo PC, did you know about it? It got 4000 people at any given time which is more than H2 pre-shutdown announcment.

Well you keep trying to say CE started MLG when in all actuality, Halo 2 is what really got MLG going.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

The multiplayer DID keep them coming back for more. You're not understanding what I'm trying to say. I'm not dissing multiplayer in any way. I play it more than I do Campaign now (On the PC). I'm saying that Campaign was a much bigger deal then than now. A lot of the only Multiplayer types came in during Halo 2/3. I love the Multiplayer on Halo: Combat Evolved more than anything else. Stop acting like I've been saying the multiplayer wasn't amazing.

No, I think that CE's campaign has actually increased in popularity because I have read many people who have been disappointed with Halo 2 or Halo 3 or Reach's campaign. It's their disappointment in future titles that has led them to want the feeling of CE's campaign again. I have seen a lot of debate and complaints on all the other forums while everyone saying that CE was more open, less linear, better storyline, ect. Back then people played CE for the multiplayer. Since the new halo games have been released CE's campaign has increased in popularity.

Not my first B.Net account obviously

MLG started with CE. It was called Halo nationals.

MLG didn't get very very popular until halo 2 though.

  • 04.29.2011 4:28 PM PDT

Halo 2 for Life!

MLG was nothing in CE because it took little skillz just like H3 and reach.

MLG was great in halo 2 because it took skill and people respected that and respected those in MLG and their montages with double shots and bxrs, bxb, bxz, etc.
