There was more time to be spent on Campaign than Multiplayer if you owned the Xbox version of Halo back in 2001 - 2004. You weren't at LAN Parties 24/7. I know that because I lived it.
I kinda doubt you lived it, because I did and all my friends would want to do is want to play multiplayer. The amount of time we spent on campaign was so little compared to multiplayer. I loved the campaign and exploring it, but it was not the same as the multiplayer.
I mean do you even know that Halo CE was MLG? MLG started because of CE. I guess because people were playing Campaign all the time...that makes sense. relevantOf course, because your experience was different than mine means you doubt I played Halo back in 2001. What I'm saying is that when I was with friends we played Multiplayer. We hardly ever played Campaign together, but, I wasn't with friends on the Xbox constantly. If I were with them half the time we'd be doing stuff outside and half inside. When I was alone I'd play Campaign. Just saying there was more time that I spent alone on Campaign than multiplayer.
Yes, I do know MLG started on Halo: Combat Evolved. I remember watching tournaments/being in them. (Local tournaments. Nothing big like MLG) I know there was a lot centered around Multiplayer, but, in my personal experience there was more experience in Campaign. Just because I spent more time on games when online than when with friends.
