I read on Halopedian that, theoretically, the shear thermodynamic force behind a SMAC would still destroy a ship even if the shields held. Thermodynamics isn't my thing (don't even know what the word literally means) so how physically correct this is I can't say.
Edit: Also, factor in the calculated strength of each shot. a Frigate MAC on full power (weakest in the fleet) is about 64 kilotons. An SMAC (strongest) at full power is 52 gigatons (52,000,000 kilotons, or 2,600,000 Nagasaki nuclear bombs).
By your estimates, A Supercarrier can tank 15,600,000 "Fat Boy" implosion bombs, minus radiation and EMP effects on shields.
Though, it is true that Covenant shield strength correlates almost directly with ship size (CCS<Assault<SC<Hirophant<High Charity) I find this somewhat hard to believe. Conversly, you also say a frigate MAC can kill a SC's shields in a range of 96 "Fat Man" implosion bombs. Doesn't add up.
Either way, good thing we had a slispace bomb.
