We are all going to get banned aren't we?

To be honest the books pretty much implied that to a Mac round that covenant ships and human ships are no different, meaning it doesn't take much to actually destroy a covenant ships.

the shields were always the main problem.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

The strength of shields is not necessarily directly proportional to the size of the ships. It is true that the larger ships are stronger, but a ship 3 times longer than a smaller ship is not necessarily 3x stronger.

yea but the bigger the ship is would probably be more important.

Since the cruiser is 1.75km long (around that atleast), and an Assault Carrier is 5km long, it is likely that the shields are around 3x stronger due to it's size being 3x longer,

Though it's three times longer, it has up to 3^3 times the volume. So it could be up to 27 times stronger. Much of this depends on how exactly shields work. Does putting more power into the shields generate stronger shields? Then a ship with a volume 27 times bigger can have a reactor 27 times bigger. If they must re-radiate the energy they absorb, and they go down when they're overload and get radiate the energy away fast enough then a ship scaled up three times has 9 times the surface area. If they store of some the energy absorbed, a ship 3 times the size has the volume for 27x the capacitor space. Do they obey conservation of momentum, and the shields go down when the generators or pieces of them are ripped from their mountings by the momentum? Then maybe a bigger ship could have bigger, stronger bracings or components.

I read on Halopedian that, theoretically, the shear thermodynamic force behind a SMAC would still destroy a ship even if the shields held. Thermodynamics isn't my thing (don't even know what the word literally means) so how physically correct this is I can't say.

Edit: Also, factor in the calculated strength of each shot. a Frigate MAC on full power (weakest in the fleet) is about 64 kilotons. An SMAC (strongest) at full power is 52 gigatons (52,000,000 kilotons, or 2,600,000 Nagasaki nuclear bombs).

By your estimates, A Supercarrier can tank 15,600,000 "Fat Boy" implosion bombs, minus radiation and EMP effects on shields.

Though, it is true that Covenant shield strength correlates almost directly with ship size (CCS<Assault<SC<Hirophant<High Charity) I find this somewhat hard to believe. Conversly, you also say a frigate MAC can kill a SC's shields in a range of 96 "Fat Man" implosion bombs. Doesn't add up.

Either way, good thing we had a slispace bomb.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

Seems reasonable.

Yes I'm fairly young. No, that doesn't mean I'm automatically dumber than you or have less life experience, thats just generally the case. I am not your general case.

A super Mac round would blow clean through any covvie ship and even if a shield system stopped it, the energy would be so great that the ship would simply vaporize.
