Okay so, I'm about almost done with the book when I noticed something particular...

"0400 Hours, August 30, 2542 (Military Calendar)/ UNSC Pillar of Autumn, in orbit around Epsilon Eridani System, Reach Military Complex."

Now correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Reach fall on August 30, 2552?
Unless the Military calendar is 10 years behind, or it took the Pillar of Autumn 10 years to jump to halo, I'm thinking this is a error in the new version of the book.

Or maybe I'm missing something, or just plain hallucinating.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Wrong key I must supopose.

I would say the same but then I realized it said 42 for almost all the dates from Sigma Octanus - Reach + Epilogue.

You probably got a faulty copy then, perhaps somebody else that owns the reprint will be able to clear it up.

"What do you hear?"
"Nothing but the rain."
"Then grab your gun and bring in the cat."
"Boom, boom, boom!"

No, the reprints all that same issue. They pretty much took the very first draft and printed that. I'm sure if you were to find a 1st edition of the original book (2001), you'd see the same thing.

Now that you talk about it, you're right, I do remember seeing that issue in my copy.

Yeah. Supposedly the very first release of the book had that mistake, which was corrected in later prints. Then the re-issue suffered the same fate. Not sure if later copies have been fixed.

Wow that's kind of stupid... Oh well, at least I know the dates and I'm not being told false canon (Well... not false but incorrect places in time.)
I wonder if this the same with The Flood and First Strike?

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

It's a typo. This has actually been discussed before.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

This was discussed at length and cleared up in this thread months ago when it came out.

The basic answer: 343i being lazy and not caring used the wrong version of TFoR when the copy pasted the new section in. They used the original version which had the dates incorrect. Apparently they don't have editors.

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

Simple typo, nothing non-canon about it.
Though I wonder if Jericho VII did take place in 2542.
