Is there a such thing as a septagon. I'm studying for my mid-terms and I noticed that a 7 sided polygon is referred to as a heptagon. Am I right?

Correctly it is a heptagon, but can be erroneously referred to as a septagon. The septagon is also, iirc, a constellation.

It's true. There is in fact no such thing as a Septagon. But Bungie has full rights to make up whatever they want, so as far as Bungie is concerned, it does exist.

Also, notice how in French, seven is sept. septagon. I know. I know. I'm just that great.

Actually, only the americans call them french fries, the french call them fried potatoes. Only the subjects of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II have it correct calling them "chips".

"sept" is the general prefix or word for seven in pretty much every greek or latin based language, so that's every language in europe bar English and German, both germanic languages.

Actually I call them fried taters...but that is off the point. The fact that it is called the "The Septagon" means nothing more than what Bungie wants it to mean, which will most in likely be a guarded secret as to what "Bungie" stands for.

French fries originated in Belgium.

A random fact for the day.

Actually according to mathworld either name works it's not erroneous to call it a septagon. ---LINK---

If you look at the tippy top of the page I actually think they refer to that seventh column figure as a septagon.

Does that include us Australians? If it doesn't then you're WRONG.

I call them chips anyway.

Yes it does. Since she's our head of state and all. He's RIGHT. It's just the dead-brained morons who manage Hungry Jacks who call them French Fries.

I once got into an argument at a drive through with the guy on the other end of the speaker about that.

It didn't last long, but I'd call it an argument.

Cool story.

Here they're all called chips. If you want to differentiate, you can say "hot chips", but since nobody eats "crisps" with fish, or with disgusting sickening greaseball fast food, you generally don't ever find the need to disambiguate.

Crisps. I laughed at some british guy about that. He didn't get it.

So I just asked for crisps at the canteen and the canteen lady said "You mean chips?" and I was like "YES I KNOW, JEEZE THOSE BRITS A -"

So anyway, I was 10 at the time. Shut up.

See, in the Netherlands, we play it smart: French fires are simply called "patat" or "frieten/frietjes". This way there cannot be any confusion between Chips and Chips/Crisps/French fries.
Anyway...
WHAT THE -blam!- DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE SEPTAGON?

When Bungie achieves world domination, someone will have to decide what chips/fries/papas fritas/etc. . are called.

This is the funniest post I've seen in a while. Members arguing over what to call their fried taters and how they differ from the bagged chips. We generally call them fries, but it really depends on where you go. Technically you could call McDonald's fries what they are, it's just that they probably ought to be called something different since they've been frozen before they serve them and have an ingredient list about a page long. This is in opposition to the In-N-Out style of french fry, where you can actually see them cutting up the potato in their restaurant.

So, anyway, uhhh, back to the topic at hand...

You can make a Septagon out of french fries.

Yeah, a seven sided polygon is referred to as a heptagon. However, the Septagon symbol has 21 sides. It has seven columns.

Sept is also a very common prefix for seven. In French, seven is in fact just that, sept (pronounced "set"). We also see it in numbers, IE million, billion, trillion, quadrillion, quintillion, sextillion, septillion...
