You're getting off topic!! Back on track people! So fries/chips... anyone know what they call em in Japan?[Edited on 1/24/2006]
Well according to freetranslation.com in Traditional Chinese (not sure if that's Mandarin, Cantonese or something else) crisps are called 油炸薯片.Guess what this means:我喜歡油炸薯片,尤其是鹽和醋和番茄蕃茄醬滋味。[Edited on 1/24/2006]
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC
Wow Those chinese shure know how to name fries.
Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world. Phrogs eye viewsockbaby
It's no secret that I'm a big dork and this will only furthur the proof. When I first heard the term "Septagon" on this site, it made me think of the Transformers. Images of us combining to form a giant robot aside, I secretly smile when I think that there are the Autobots, the Decepticons, and the Septagon. All we need are holographic septagon symbols on our chests and we're set.*transforms into a wheel and rolls away*
Same here dude.Back in my nub days here i had no clue what was going on and wondered by bungie had a forum for the transformers. Then i learned to read and well the rest is history.* Turns into a........ UM........ hmmmmmmm a French FryDAMIt NO!!!!!
It's simple enough that both fries and chips can exist.Fries are the thin strandly ones bought in Mcdonalds.Chips are the fat (possibly soggy ones) that are made of potato. And crisps...because they make a crisp noise (well a crunch) when you bite them. Do crisps make chip noises? No.
Ever heard of Herrs Potatoe chips?Definately not what you described. We should write a book about this.

I totally agree.I can't believe I've been sucked into this debate, but....Posted by: EAGLES5You have it all wrong.Chips are like fries but even thinner.
