Anger and bitterness can overcome any of us. Is that a reason to kill?

You forget that she doesn't have to control weapons of mass destruction anymore than we personally have to carry nukes.

No one is dangerous unless they want to be.

And a human wanted to be as well. Whatever flaws you apply to her apply to humans as well because she is human.

So she's a human who has a wide reach of control. It's scary.

Exactly, Cortana could be the most dangerous. I mean, before she even hit rampancy you could say she threw a fit of rage and tried to KILL somebody.

Yeah, that is what she was trying to do with Ackerson. Get him assigned to front lines combat where he would be guaranteed to die.

She even made a charge to some brothel under his name, she wanted to ruin his marriage too.

Yeah... so if you say Cortana didn't get Halsey's insane protection wants of the Spartans...

Still, if Cortana is the "Best of the human Smart AIs", do you really want more that could behave like that?

The current AI in the halo universe have no option to become truely human as said before they all will go through the short circuting that causes AI death or rampancy then death the systems current AI use just makes it impossible and metastability can only result from an AI that goes into rampancy but for one reason or another severs just the right connections and could theoretically live forever but this AI after figuring out it could live forever probably wouldnt want to get in a body with an expiration date also were talking about AI that can process thing so fast that ever covenant and forerunner systems can be hacked in seconds by them so even if you set up a world to sent AI in hopes they hit metastability the chance they stay and dont cause trouble is mabye 1 in 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000

Which is why you have to develop means to limit there influence.

I'm not saying send out a human who has control of the entire network. I'm just saying it isn't right to kill them either.

As for the things against Ackerson, didn't John want that too?

Besides, man has survived through countless trials in the Haloverse. From WW1 to The Human Covenant war, man has made it. And AIs made victory possible in the latter.

There are many reasons to let AIs live.

However, there is only one for why they should die: Fear.

Fear of the unknown. What if we do manage to "humanize" an AI?
What if they go crazy? What if they revolt?

Then I must remind you that each step man has taken had risk in it. Democracy was a huge risk. People didn't think it would work. It's turned into the most powerful system on the planet.

I also must remind that it sometimes takes struggle to learn important lessons. We learned the danger of nuclear weaponry in WW2. We learned the danger of chemical weapons in WW1.

If you choose to ignore the problem, the unethical killing of sentient AIs, then you put yourself on borrowed time. Because you won't accept the change as it came, a struggle would come to make things change.

It may not be today, maybe not tommorow, but someday a struggle will come knocking on your door. Then, you will be forced to change or die.

We know not the shape it may come. Perhaps a revolt by a sentient AI? Maybe something we haven't thought of.

Whatever the case, ignoring issues such as these puts us on borrowed time. And one day, the debt will be called.

AI cannot feel, nor touch, nor smell, nor taste. That's what distinguishes them.
