Which is why you have to develop means to limit there influence.
I'm not saying send out a human who has control of the entire network. I'm just saying it isn't right to kill them either.
As for the things against Ackerson, didn't John want that too?
Besides, man has survived through countless trials in the Haloverse. From WW1 to The Human Covenant war, man has made it. And AIs made victory possible in the latter.
There are many reasons to let AIs live.
However, there is only one for why they should die: Fear.
Fear of the unknown. What if we do manage to "humanize" an AI?
What if they go crazy? What if they revolt?
Then I must remind you that each step man has taken had risk in it. Democracy was a huge risk. People didn't think it would work. It's turned into the most powerful system on the planet.
I also must remind that it sometimes takes struggle to learn important lessons. We learned the danger of nuclear weaponry in WW2. We learned the danger of chemical weapons in WW1.
If you choose to ignore the problem, the unethical killing of sentient AIs, then you put yourself on borrowed time. Because you won't accept the change as it came, a struggle would come to make things change.
It may not be today, maybe not tommorow, but someday a struggle will come knocking on your door. Then, you will be forced to change or die.
We know not the shape it may come. Perhaps a revolt by a sentient AI? Maybe something we haven't thought of.
Whatever the case, ignoring issues such as these puts us on borrowed time. And one day, the debt will be called.
