Boomer.
Best. Ship. Ever!

I don't know who was the first Spartan I. The only Spartan I I know of is Sgt. Johnson.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

From the Orion project or from the Spartan II's? Either way I don't know but some clarification would be nice.

All the Spartan IIs were conscripted at the same time, so all of them were the first Spartans. There was not one single specific one.

The ORION project candidates are not officially Spartan Is. That is more of a colloquialism used for them because they were the precursors.

I'm inclined to say Master Chief, not really from any fandom of him but because from my memory I remember that he was the first Halsey interviewed and decided was a definite candidate. I could easily be wrong though, but that's what i remember from The Fall of Reach.

No He was a Spartan but not the first.

Well technically speaking, the members of the Orion project were never referred to as Spartans. And there wasn't really a first. There was a group of 75 children chosen for the Spartan II program. Although only 33 of those children became what the program aimed for.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Sgt. Johnson was among the first. Some theories state that Chief Franklin Mendez and Staff Sergeant Nolan Bryne are also Spartan I´s.

There is no way to know for sure though, and it´s logical to assume that many were conscripted into the program together.
