In ancient greece, Spartan Warriors were taken at [b] around six years old [b], they were bred to be warriors, and they had a [b] famous last stand at The Battle of Thermopylae where they were buying time for the Atheniens [b], and [b]they all died[b].

Sounds very similar,no?

Since the Halo SPARTAN 2s were taken at six and were bred to be warriors, and they also had a famous last stand at Reach where they bought time for the Pillar of Autumm to escape, and nearly all of them died.

Perhaps the story of the SPARTANs was inspired by the real spartans?

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

With someone of the name "The professor," you son, are slow.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Yeah I thought about this... In 2001.

I didn't even know anything about this until a few months ago. But now that that I know a bit about it I enjoy it.

As for those who said I was slow, you don't know much about professors. Professors are not meant to be quick thinkers. We're simply meant to know, and to teach, which is why many Professors seem to be "absent minded professors". Introspective, not extraverted.

Well, "spartan" either refers to the warriors of Sparta who were epic in almost every single way, or it is another way of saying "bare" in the sense of being unadorned.

I think I was right to assume that they were named after the warriors...

In that case you are excused.

It was stated outright that the spartans were meant to be the spirital successors of the real spartans. The candidates were shown holographic movies of the battle of (whatever that famous battle the spartans died in that I won't even try to spell).

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

These are Halseys reasons
1. The 300 Spartans who defended Greece at Thermopylae is a well-known and cherished tale ( almost to the point of romantic fanaticsism) within the military community. (coincidentally, "The ORION Project Generation Two" was originally funded for 300 candidates.)

2. The ancient spartans' training is legendary they started when boys were seven, molding them into the most fierce and feared warriors of that day. I will do the same.

3. Most intriguing to me were the eugenic customs of the Spartan culture. Their babies were inspected for strength and fitness; if lacking, the babies were destroyed.(by any modern standard, though I wonder in what way the selection protocols I've authored are any less excessive... any less cruel.)

True.
Sangheili are similar to the Spartan of ancient Greece to a limited degree.

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

It was intentionally written to be that way. Also, Sangheili culture is very similar to that of the ancient Greeks as well.

Yeah, I think it was intentional that the UNSC Spartans remind people of the actual Greek ones.

Elites are also rather like feudal Japan.

The efforts of 22 (plus 6...) spartans at the battle of reach enabled the UNSC to win the war.

Thermopylae indeed.
