Subject: How many Gigs do you think and AI takes up?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

How large do you think an AI takes up in memory?

I would think a lot considering everything and do you think we have any memory units today that could contain a Halo AI?

please discuss and thank you.

several petabytes

I'd guess hundreds, maybe up to a thousand petabytes for dumb and smart AIs respectively.

If the size of the SI's data center is proportional to the amount of space it takes up. 1 zettabit.

Then the Data crystal chip used to store Cortana must have a huge capacity. I'm confused

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

In Marathon, I remember Durandal saying something about how he transfered himself, and it said something about 8 exabytes. Or 8 million gigabytes.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

Since a smart AI is a scan of a human brain and the brain has a capacity of has been estimated to be between 1 and 1000 terabytes, so a smart AI would take up that much space, plus whatever functions or knowledge has been added to them, plus enough room to store everything they ever come into contact with.

The superintendent may have taken up even more space because it watched the entire city of New Mombasa, so all of that information must have taken up a massive amount of storage space.

I'm using Cortana as a base here.

Assuming that she is not yet rampant ,she has knowledge of almost everything related to Humans ,and exposure to Halo that took around 2 years off her estimated lifespan.

I can't give you a clear asnwer ,but we'll be talking about trillions of trilions of gigs.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Does this apply?

Many will enter, only one will rise to the top and he might not even win....

Terabytes, not gigs.

Kinda off topic, but Cortana already went through rampancy when the Gravemind was torturing her on High Charity.

OT
I have no idea how much space an AI itself would take up, but I would imagine with the technological strides Humanity made in 500+ years that the memory space consisting of the actual AI itself would not necessarily take up much space.

You'd need hundreds of millions of modern computers to hold auntie dot, and billions to hold serena or cortana
