Covenant Heavies stay back and bombard UNSC ships with energy projector fire, shooting down Shivas and Archer missiles with pulse lasers and dodging MAC rounds. Frigates and destroyers use precision slipspace jumps to get in behind and amoung UNSC ships, wreaking havoc with plasma torpedoes.

End result, The UNSC doesn't have enough ships to swing the battle, they'd get their licks in but ultimately lose. 3:1 is the standard requirement to defeat the Covenant in space, they just don't have it.

Well put.

That's actually not well put at all. If by heavies he means the Assault Carriers and CCS-class Battlecruisers, he is wrong.

The Assault Carriers would lag back a little bit while the CCS-class would charge forward.

Heavies is anything with the prefix Super- or Assault-.

In that case, I agree.

Doesn't the UNSC have to outnumber the Covenant 3:1 for an even battle?

And I don't think the energy projectors on those ships are anything like the beam used by the super-cruiser.

Typically it require 3 UNSC vessels to defeat a Covenant vessel of equal class, i.e. 3 UNSC destroyers to take one Covenant destroyer. Obviously a UNSC cruiser could probably handle a Covenant Corvette by itself.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

UNSC always got dominated in space, save for the Battle of Earth.

"You were weak... and gods must be strong."

Can we get a bit more info on the planetary assets the humans control before I give my take on the simulation?

Also, if you could at least name a few numbers for the bigger/more important ships, that'd be great.

At first the human ships would destroy about 30% of the alien armada. Then things would turn for the worst resulting in the alien ships destroying ship after ship of the UNSC. Luckily, the UNSC will begin to utilize every available resource in their jurisdiction. Thus causing the armada to retreat or surrender.

Retreat; 50/50 odds the faster Covenant ships could catch them.
Surrender: Makes it easier for the Covenant to kill you, they don't have to compensate for movement.

I think he meant the Covenant ships for that.

I'll input my opinion after seeing how many of each type of ship the sides have.

Ok,
Retreat: No.
Surrender: No

Especially earlier in the war, where "fake/simulation planets" would have existed, the Covenant didn't retreat. They' only retreated in battles late into the war because they had more pressing, Forerunner related matters to tend to.

Covenant fleets don't just leave. They fight to the last gun.
