Well I'm not that great at Halo but I'll try and give you some tips, most of which I haven't gotten down myself but I'm trying to.
In my opinion being a good Halo player ( and not just good but great ) is comprised of the following: Awareness, patience, positioning, teamwork, and the instant decisions you make in-game. Then, of course, your individual skill.
One thing you need to realise is that being simply good or even great individually isn't enough when you are playing at high levels. Your BR may be sick, your snipe may be clutch, but when your opponents are high level ( 48+ ) then they almost certainly have great BRs and snipes too. That's where you need to focus on your positioning, so you always have the advantage over your opponents. It's also where you need to focus on out-thinking your opponents. Never try and force a 1 on 1 battle with someone, because they most likely have a solid aim too and you can die like a coin toss. Instead, focus on staying with your team, putting shots in and take the opportunities for kills when they present themselves.
Never chase unless you are 100 percent sure the kill is yours, and there are no more enemies nearby. Never give up your position to chase down a kill. Halo is all about patience, don't get too eager because it will most likely result in you dying without a kill or going 1 for 1 which isn't good enough.
Also when it comes to out-thinking your opponents: you want to get the jump on your enemy. Use your surroundings to make sure you catch your opponent off guard, even if it's as simple as jumping out from cover when they aren't expecting it. This will most likely give you the first shot which is absolutely crucial.
Also learn the spawns ( in TS this will be in correlation to where you and your team are if they are dynamic ) and LEARN power weapon spawn times because power weapons are what make and break a game's outcome. Work with your team to ensure you get the power weapons. Teamwork is vital for winning.
Hope I helped.
