It would be great if we could have an admin clear this up.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

I just don't think it deletes instantly once it hits the one year mark. I'm going to venture a guess and say it will be gone by the end of this week. If not, then something has changed.
I think that's right. I remember hearing somewhere that the check only happens occasionally, not every day. Or at least, the deletion doesn't happen immediately. I might wait until the 14th to start assuming it'd different, though, just in case it only happens once a month.

I think Bungie turned it off.

I don't honestly know. Even with it's gamertag linked it should have been deleted long ago.

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

To be honest I have no idea... Where is Achronos when you need him?!?!?

Does he really need to comment on this? Will the uncertainty keep you up at night?

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

I don't think accounts auto-delete. I think when they expire that someone goes through and deletes them manually.

It's a possibility.

I would like to know the answer to be honest.

That'd take a lot of work when an auto-delete system would be very efficient.

Yeah, but not very merciful. I think there might be different time limits for the amount of activity that one had before leaving the site. I left for almost a year, thank God Reach came out an reminded me to log back on.

inb4 everyone.

I've noticed a lot of accounts like this before. They all have one thing in common:
They've never posted.

I just assumed that if you never post you are immune to certain things like the auto-delete.

But there are other accounts over a year old that have posted and haven't been deleted. Gamerjunkiejim and goodeye for example.

...of this thread. If a member no longer posts, does it matter that his account is removed from the server or not? Hardly. The (non) deletion of inactive accounts does not affect us as users, nor can it in any way.

Possibly a bug in the system causing the accounts to take a longer time to be deleted.

Yeah, could be a minor bug.

So who says that accounts don't get deleted after getting permabanned?

"Watermelon King", the account of the guy who made the "Shishka is a Pegboy" threads, has not been deleted despite that he hasn't logged on for five or six years.

Oh, that does seem to be a bit odd.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

I don't know, but this thread made me realize that the old "Niner" account was deleted and that I could remake it ;)

Maybe the account was banned, then the account owner decided to stop coming on their 1 year anniversary and didn't come back when it expired?

I thought I remember Achronos saying that if you get a ban, your account deletion will be postponed until the day your ban was up?

Say I created an Account on 12.31.2009, Then I got banned on that say day for 10 days. I up and left Bungie.net that same day never to return. Since my ban expired on 1.09.2010, that would be the day my account would be auto deleted from inactivity. The day the ban expired.

I hope that made sense, its early on a Monday morning :/

This made sense to me. I would say Tom look up the moderation history of the account and see if they had a ban that ran through this day 2010. You might find your answer.

  • 05.02.2011 3:18 PM PDT

Perhaps it has to go with the exact time they are deleted or the time is just speculated.

  • 05.02.2011 3:39 PM PDT

Maybe account deletion doesn't occur right on the day it's supposed to be deleted, but instead, a little bit after(?)
