:'( ugh, really? This isn't permanent, is it?

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Hmm, I wonder why it was disabled. The only thing I can think of is to avoid the deletion of a specific account.

What overwhelming need would we members have to know?
An overwhelming need has to be present in order to warrant information? Something doesn't seem right there.

I wear the cheese, it does not wear me.

This account is now retired due to WLID changing. Webteam needs to fix that, seriously >.>

I hope not. Unless they change the system so I can link my old account to my changed WLID email address :|

My thoughts exactly.

Automatic account deletion was disabled a few months ago for a few reasons that we don't need to get into.

So if I don't come here for a while, my account won't get erased?

We don't fully know.
You should try doing that, and see what happens.
I support this idea.

That's a very round about way of saving an account. As far as we know perm banned account will remain, and it's fairly simple to log into an account once every couple of months.

Not for GJJ.

I agree.

This is why I doubt it is the reason for it being disabled.

Yeah, I highly doubt the reason is one person/group of people. I'm thinking it's because of something we have no idea about.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

I'm guessing someone important or noteworthy had their account deleted, came back, and reported it to them/complained. What if someone was in a tour of duty in Afghanistan or Iraq, those are reasonable scenarios that could prevent someone from logging on for a year without having abandoned this place.

Tru7h. C4RN4GE. Bungie.

My theory is that this may have something to do with Sketch's account being Absent.

Pretty sure that's the scenario with Kilroy right now and he's currently permabanned.

Ugh. Looks like we will be seeing a lot more accounts with this layout in the future:

(Insert two random letters here)(Insert Halo: Reach medal name here)(Insert random assortment of numbers here) (Insert two random letters here).

Example:

ll AVENGER36 ll

I look forward to it.

It doesn't?

You're a guest at a friend's house. They decide that it is not necessary to tell you that last week, the cat caught a mouse, ate it and then threw up bones on the living room carpet.

Why didn't they tell YOU? You're a guest and you have a need/right to know EVERYTHING that is going on in this place that you are visiting.

Yeah, that sounds much more "right".

So, preparing for the transition to Aerospace even more it seems.

That way we don't lose our accounts here?

But couldn't they give those specific accounts immunity against the deletion system?

Why is it that since Portal 2 came out I can just perfectly visualise Bungie as Aperture Science?

Why didn't they tell me? Probably because I didn't ask. If I walked into the room and noticed a yellow stain on the carpet and asked where it came from I would fully expect to hear an explanation (even if not that one). It would strike me as being pretty shady if I was just told to look the other way and try to ignore it.

Account Deletion was brought up and "we" wondered why a change had been made. Nobody demanded information or an official word, however since it was offered I would expect a proper explanation.

Maybe account deletion had to be disabled because they will be changing the sign in system or something along those lines?

  • 06.01.2011 7:15 AM PDT

So, let me get this straight... Does that mean there is now no way at all for a user to delete their own account?

That doesn't seem right. It was bad enough before that a person had to wait a year as a work-around, but this is ridiculous.
