Arrogant hyperbolic exclamations of woe? Seems like a normal day for Halo/Bungie.net.

Destructable Vehicles, Vehicle Boosting and Vehicle Hijacking. Playable Wraith, Mongoose and a UNSC air vehicle. Also, Forge, Firefight and greeat Custom game options.

AA's as CG / FF only options would be cool.

No -blam!- way am I going to buy this remake without updated Vehicles. Vehicle combat in CE is boring. In Halo 2, driving was better but the Hog felt sloppy. In H3, Vehicle combat was at its best. In Reach, the Vehicles are perfect and very smooth but the damage done by DMR/Snipe/AR is too high and the damage done by the Splaser is too low.

So essentially you don't want a CE remake, you want Halo Reach in CE skins.

Nope. If I wanted Reach, I'd still play it. I want CE but it needs to be updated. Some of the game's assets (VEHICLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!) are outdated. Really, really outdated.

I'll buy it anyway, just to get a visual campaign upgrade. I'd have no problem in paying 60$ for Campaign and offline multiplayer only, after all, that's what we've been doing back in the days too, isn't it?

That's basically the way I look at. Most people that loved Halo CE loved it for what it was, releasing it with a bunch of new bells and whistles doesn't make that much sense to me.

I certainly understand that there is going to be a crowd that want updates made, but either way 343i is rolling the dice, their gonna piss off one side or the other.

If I put pancake mix in my X-Box 360 Disc drive will it make pancakes?

I do not wish for 343i to change a single thing. Other then to input some sort of X-box Live factor into the game, but the graphics, maps and audio stay the same they were in 01'.

Take a step back with me and enjoy a taste of the bittersweet that is our current generation.

I enjoy Battlefield and Call of Duty, and Gears of War.

20 years old, manager of my family's business, aspiring officer of the law.

I love anything political.

I personally don't want a CE remake. It just didn't appeal to me too much. The multiplayer side came to life for me in Halo 2.

The game I am hopeful for, but certainly not expecting, is a Halo 3 type game with the netcode of Halo:Reach and a larger and slightly more efficient weapon sandbox.

i say keep it the same with a good multiplayer that will give us the same expierience along with some new memories

That's not a remake that you're asking for that's an HD port.

OP: I don't care what they add or subtract as long as it has matchmaking/Xbox Live and the ability to play as Spartans and Elites in multiplayer. Those are the main 2 things I want the most...

"Though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death,i will fear no evil"~Psalms 23.4

i would remake the multiplayer, make it so it can play on xbox live,up the graphics, put in hijacking and destructible vehicles, put in plasma pistol emp,put in the chopper and particle beam rifle because those are my fav vehicles and weapons and put in forge and theatre and show the ending of reach before the beginning(pillar of autumn taking off) and make elites playable, put in firefight, and add new armour

wait, did i just describe halo 3?......someone kill me.......

also

-Make the AI Halo 2 Caliber
1. I didn't like Halo 2's campaign much, but the Marine AI was pretty damn good, I watched a marine on HEROIC murder an elite and 3 grunts by himself (BR is one helluva gun.)

-Add the grunt/elite variations from Reach.

-visualize bloom while keeping the gun physics the same (lets see how they like this.)

absolutely not. None of those things can be added.

The story and everything should stay the same, just improve the graphics.

After thinking on this for 30 seconds, I have come to the following conclusion.

X-Box Live capacity should be included, but only if headshots are removed. Make people earn their kills.

If I can hold the Red Teleporter Hill on Blood Gulch for 5 minutes with an assault rifle and frags, you guys can get a kill with a pistol.
o what your saying is a steady aimed, Headshot is not as good as spraying them in the body like a -blam!- noob?

  • 05.10.2011 1:54 AM PDT

Copy and Paste with a BR and a Splaser. I want a rehashed Halo 3 without equipment, not even kidding, I also want forge 2.0, firefight with good maps, Lockout and Sanctuary to be included. Really anything that isn't like Reach

You could keep the same story line for the most part and still come up with a pretty cool game. It might lack some of the big surprises, but intersting game play, enemy AI and maybe the ability to randomize encounters would be just the ticket.

  • 05.10.2011 8:02 AM PDT

Walk by faith. Dude. Not by sight.

The more I read these posts the more I think a remake is a bad idea. Bring on Halo4 and ODST2!

I, for one, wouldn't be willing to pay more than $5 for a game I already own...with just prettier visuals.
I'm unsure about how many CE fans would be willing to shell out money for something that can easily be accomplished via PC mods.

I'd like to see enhanced graphics, online play, PC version features (Fuel Rod gun, Flamethrower, those extra maps) Firefight, Forge, Theater, Online Co-Op, Visualized bloom without changing how the weapons actually work, and the newer visual designs of the Covenant from Reach. They could add all of those without altering the gameplay much.

See, those are changes I wouldn't mind. Make it something of a "directors cut". Why in the world people want to turn it into Reach or the terrible Halo 3 is beyond me.

I would buy it if it came with a lot of collectors stuff. Since its the ten year anniversary make it special. ...And maybe a beta sign up for the next Halo. I would be happy!

Reflecting back on my post made me realize that, even if those things are implemented, many newcomers will simply see it as a "gimped" version of Reach.
Let me explain that real quick. They would see all those features from Reach implemented into CE, and CE's gameplay would remain unchanged...but in order for it to remain unchanged certain things must be excluded completely, boarding, boost on vehicles, vehicle damage, armor abilities, loadouts, assassinations, various ranks and species of the Covenant, and various weapons. To most players, they'll just see Reach minus all those things, with a different campaign and gameplay tweaks.
Sure, many players prefer CE's gameplay to Reach's, but I'm willing to bet that most casual gamers will hear that Halo HD has less weapons, enemies and features than Reach and will just pan it right then and there.

Essentially, the remake has to implement enough features to warrant a repurchase, but not so many that it's only relation to the original is the path the story goes...it's gonna be tough for 343 to pull this off...

True enough, but I think that's where having a target audience and pricing your game accordingly comes into play. If they are going to do this as a full $59 title, then your right, it is going to have to have enough done to it to draw new buyers, even though it will risk upsetting those looking for an HD rerelease.

  • 05.10.2011 4:12 PM PDT

Imagine CE with Halo Wars cutscenes.

  • 05.10.2011 4:49 PM PDT

Just make it HD, give it XBL support, and walk away. Really the gameplay is perfect as-is, and no change would be for the better.

Also, keep "The Library" as-is. It was hell on Legendary, and should stay hell for old and new audiences alike.

One thing I'm personally afraid of is them changing the elites to Reach style size and proportions. While I thought the Sangheli were badass in Reach, I don't want the man-sized splitlipped bastards that we all remember and love being altered at all. Their size, speed, and strafing were all appropriate, and should not be changed.
