Yes I'm fairly young. No, that doesn't mean I'm automatically dumber than you or have less life experience, thats just generally the case. I am not your general case.

This thread is for speculation about the ancient humanity that lived alongside the Forerunners, as well as general speculation about Cryptum 2 and 3.

For starters, do you think ancient humans had mutations like the Forerunners did?

No,as the Didact said, they completely resemble Chakas.I'm sure they look like modern day Humans, just like Chakas.

I would think they would at least use cybernetics and advancer gene therapy and bio-augmentations, they were supposed to be as advanced as the Forerunners, right?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Mutations no, but did they naturally have the ability's of Spartans, yes.

And i doubt they would be anything like modern humanity as modern man was the miracle the librarian found on earth.

No, modern man was a de-evolved version of humanity. Essentially the human race at its most basic sentient level.

Modern man was not around during the time cryptum started, and change the title to "General cryptum discussion" so it can hopefully be a hot topic.

I;m pretty sure modern man and ancient man were the same, with the exception of forerunner de-evolution and yes, I will change the name, thanks man.

They can't be seeing how Ancient man was just that, Ancient.

They would have been advanced for a few hundred if not maybe a thousand years or so and in so would have to have a pre-history.

Meaning you and I are not the same type of humans they were.

The events before cryptum all take place before the halos were fire, which was the time that modern man left the cradle of life in Africa.

Everything with the de-evolution is with ancient humanity, which pre-dates the other sub species of humanity around the 10,000 year mark.

What kind of ships and weaponry do you think they used, as we are obviously getting no where with the "are they like us or not" thing.

I can't even imagine to be honest, while we have a forerunner saga i think it would also be smart to put out a saga on ancient man.

I they had Orbital Defenses and evergy towers as defense.I really hope they will give us more info on the ancient Humans.

  • 05.02.2011 12:06 PM PDT

Don't know about their ships, but the weapons at least must have been comparable to Forerunner tech, otherwise they wouldn't have been much of a threat. I imagine them like a porcupine, retreating to their planet and hiding behind a forest of fixed installations mounted on the Precursor ruins.

They and the san shuum developped weapons together, which was effective against Forerunner warriors.

I think those ancient ruins on Delta Halo,Sandbox and Heian are Ancient Human structures instead of the Precursors. This gives us an idea how their architecture looked lik( a mixture of Forerunner-Human ).

Yeah, a sort of futuristic, techy humanity, I believe its called cyberpunk. Anyways, a saga on ancient man would be very interesting.

I agree with you about the delta Halo and Heian ruins, but the sandobx/trap ruins had some FR elements,or at least it remeinded me of FR's.

-In sandtrap, number 1 and 5 remind me of the Delta Halo Forerunner tempels, the ones where Regret was hiding
http://www.halopedian.com/images/b/ba/Sandtrap-numbered.jpg

-Sandbox,there are blue and red pillars that give it a Forerunner feel

But that's my opinion.

You know what i like, even with Cryptum fleshing out the Forerunners, the runners are still mysterious, when walking through their relics in the games ,it still gives me that mystery feel.Same with the ancient Human ones

Maybe the ancient humanity inspire the forerunner to build like that you ever think of that?

We know they were quite advanced having fought off the flood and the Forerunners simultaneously, and they found a way to access and control the prison of the last Precursor, admittedly through an alliance with the prophets though. Didact even says that they were the greatest race he ever fought and he wished he had spared them because at the time he didn't know they were only fleeing the flood.

The Prophets didn't find a way to access the Prisoner, thy just supplied the Timebolt that the Humans used to strengthen the cage of the prisoner.

Well, Greg Bear said in a response to a post on his site that Cryptum 2 and 3 will touch more on the relationship between the four lead races (humans, Forerunners, Flood and Precursors).

And Ancient humanity strikes me as a naturally advanced version of humanity, who use their brains to its highest possible function. De-evolution would likely mean biological evolution as well. Since chakas looked like the humans who killed Didact's men, it would seem the only biological component left to de-evolve would be the brain.

So what your saying is that modern humans are physically different but mentally the same? Makes sense.
