Did you enjoy reading some of the halo novels?
here's a few questions
- Which is your favourite?
- Who's your favourite Spartan ( apart from 117 )
- and What is your favourite/most memorable scene from it?

I enjoyed reading the first 3
- Fall of reach
- The Flood
- The first strike

and I read the Ghosts of Onyx

[ There's a sequel to 'the ghosts of onyx' coming out later this year sometime, Which is in-fact not a direct sequel,
Its a sequel in the sense that its set after halo 3, there's new characters and storyline}

And now I'm starting to read 'The Cole Protocol' which was a gift at Christmas,

My favourite scene was probably in the Fall Of Reach when John Kelly and Sam were aboard the covenant cruiser and Sam got hit with a plasma bolt and opened a hole in his armour which meant that he couldn't go back into space, which was crucial because there was a live bomb that they planted on the cruiser, so he stayed behind to take care of the covenant while the other two got off the cruiser,

( sorry if im a bit off its been a while since I read the book)

And because of that whole scene 'Samuel - 034' is my favourite Spartan, hense the 034 in my gamertag, which is nearly 4 or 5 years old, ( I created the gamertag before I joined live and never changed it at all)

anyway your turn

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Hell yes.

I absolutly love Halo's universe and canon. I have enjoyed every novel I have read, some more than others though.

Ghosts of Onyx is probably my favorite, mostly do to the fact that the book is about Spartan III's, my favorite element in the Halo universe, along with the ODST's.

GoO or Evolutions. I absolutly LOVED Dirt. Yes, I know, it was about ODST's. <3

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

1) First Strike
2) Linda
3) My most memorable moment in the books was when Dr. Halsey had the forerunner rock/stone in here hand in that giant cave.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

My favorite is The Cole Protocol. I read every Halo book but one. (Contact Harvest) I have it, but just haven't gotten around to reading it. I enjoy reading the books much. Although, maybe it's just me, but at the end of the book I find myself not remembers half the events that happened. There are so many things going on for my little brain to remember it all. Aside from that...my favorite part? Probably all of the short story, Mona Lisa. (My favorite short story, of the Halo series.) My favorite Spartan? I don't think I have one. I like the ODSTs better and no one Spartan has really appealed to me besides Chief. And that's only because he's in the games.

I love all of the books. My favorites are Cryptum, Evolutions, GoO and the parts of The Flood that aren't levels in CE.

I don't think I have a favorite book, though my top picks would be Cole Protocol, First Strike, and Ghosts of Onyx, in no real order.

Hmm, favorite Spartan from the books? Probably Kelly or Linda.

From First Strike it would be when Linda sniped all those Banshees and then it was revealed how she where she was shooting from. In Ghosts of Onyx one of my favorite moments would probably when Kelly flips off the Sentinels of Onyx, that was just badass.

Gotta be Ghosts of Onyx, Kurt's last passage...

Looking for clan that isn't too serious? Then join the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion. Go to http://www.501st.forumclan.com for more info.

I love the story of 'The fall of Reach' and how it told the story of the devastating invasion of Reach from the Master Chief's point of view before the actual game. I love that book so much!

Signatures are for squares.

Of course I loved reading the books. Especially Cryptum and Evolutions.

Cole Protocole, the Flood, and Contach Harvest were Meh.

  • 05.03.2011 4:14 AM PDT

Got 'em in my sights.

Don't wake me, I'm thinking. |-)

For me my top 3 are:

Fall of Reach
Ghosts of Onyx
Cole Protocol

I've also read Contact Harvest, The Flood, First Strike and Evolutions Vol II and I've enjoyed every single one of them.

Now for favourite SPARTAN, it's hard to decide. Kurt 051 though comes through because not only was he a superb leader, he also cared for those he fought alongside and commanded.

Honor est praemium virtutis.

I have all the novels except for Cryptum. Still need to read Cole Protocol and Evolutions.
My favorite has to be The Fall of Reach by far, read it 3 times.

Favorite part would have to be when the Spartans are just starting training, and they have that obstacle course game and they have to ring the bell at the end. Was just great reading how John was a lone wolf, always looking out for himself in the beginning, and then becomes this great leader amongst the Spartans.

Favorite Spartan apart from John would be Samuel. For the reason the OP mentioned, his death was a little cliche, but poetic.

I enjoy reading them but haven't read any for a while. I should probably read them all over again. My favorite is either Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Onyx or Cryptum. Can't decide which one.

Yes, and I really wish Bungie stuck to the books' canon.
It would have made Halo a much more interesting game (Plasma that is actually USEFUL, ya know?)

OMG a Pwny!

I've greatly enjoyed reading the novels. I'm torn as to which is my favorite at the moment, Cryptum, Contact Harvest, and Fall of Reach.

My favorite moment is in Harvest, and it's basically the whole book, as finally Johnson is a human, not the hardass soldier from the games. We see that he has emotions, and he's tough as nails to protect himself and those around him.
Also the Covenant relationships, they're not all the thing of nightmares out to plunder our women and -blam!- our villages, some of them aren't so different from us, but they follow orders.

My favorite Spartan so far is Jorge, other than that, I'd probably say Kelly. Kelly is always willing to be a human target for operations, knowing that she may misstep and it could all be over.
