I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.

Gamma Company was sent out on a mission after the Fall of Reach (so after Sept 7) and before the Battle of Onyx (Oct. 31) So that gives almost a full month of where they could have gone.

Now considering Reach fell, all forces were sent to Earth.
My guess is that Gamma Co. was sent to defend Earth.

15 Spartans of Gamma stayed on Reach. So that gives 315 Spartans that could be at Earth.

While it's never stated when Gamma Co graduated, Gamma was formed in 2543. If they recieved the 7 year training like the previous companies, then they should have graduated in 2550.
It could be possible that they had some operations before their last known deployment. So this could mean that some became Headhunters.

Also it is possible some did infact go to Reach to recieve more training. This is possibly what Gauntlet and Echo are.

As for me know, the timing of their deployment with the Fall of Reach makes me believe they were sent to defend Earth.

I believe that 60 of Gamma Company were present in the Headhunters story. The mission plan was to have the two teams of Headhunters blow up as much stuff as possible and then a dozen Spartan III fireteams would be sent in to clean up the mess. 12 times 5 (fireteam) is 60. Now, my logic for these 60 Spartans being from Gamma Company is as follows:

The mission would have taken place in or around 2552. Evidence to support this is the Headhunter's equipment (MJOLNIR). They were field testing VISR technology which had not seen widespread deployment as of this mission. In ODST, set in 2552, Buck and his had only just received VISR specially for there mission. This is mentioned in a Vidoc. So the Headhunter's mission would have been sometime before this putting it roughly late 2551 or early 2552. More evidence again is the inclusion of the Av-cam armour ability, something included in Reach's campaign, again set in 2552.

The only Company of IIIs around at in 2552 was Gamma, who were deployed in September/October (can't remember exactly). So clearly the 60 Spartans mentioned were Gamma Company Spartans.

As for the rest, I'd assume that after Reach's fall all remaining assets were sent to Earth. They probably took part in it's defence.

"You were weak... and gods must be strong."

Eh, I believe they arrived after the Battle of Earth. They hadn't necesarrily graduated yet during the events of Ghosts of Onyx- they were still competing for Top Honors, hence the extra 15 that stayed behind on Onyx.

The remaining teams probably started a voyage to the next-closest human planet (as far as we know, Earth was not the only human planet left standing by the end of the War. It's strongly hinted at that other inner-colony planets may have been bypassed). My guess is they arrived at Earth post-war and were probably imperative to the physical labor of reconstructing the planet and were more than likely invaluable security forces.

It's either that, or they sent Gamma Company out to hunt for any in-system Covenant remnant forces.

Sorry man, but 1 Headhunter team is just 2 Spartans. There were two teams in Headhunters. Both are KIA.

Only three teams stayed on ONYX, probably teams Kurt was attempting to put into Noble-esque Spec Ops teams. The rest of the Company had already been deployed.

I never said the actual Headhunters were from Gamma.

I never thought of that. It would make sense for the top honors of Gamma Co to be put into MJOLNIR. Damn I have to go re-read the books now to see how my perspective is now.

....I pretty much just said that. The 15 that stayed behind were the "three teams" competing for "top honors" which was probably Kurt's SpecOps assignment testing.

EDIT- I think you're keying on on them being 'deployed', yes? I'm too lazy to go pick up my book, but does it specifically mention them being deployed? Because as far as I'm aware, their being 'deployed' was never specifically mentioned.

I'm also too lazy to check but I'm sure that Gamma (bar the 3 teams) were already off planet when shiz went down.
