Subject: Emile's skull, emotion?

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

I'm curious, by emile carving the skull onto his helmet show a display of emotion? Spartans are trained to now show emotion.
Now I would like to go with Levioff's interpretation of how Emile got this skull.

I think Leviathan's sotry of how he got that works out fine.

Dustin has a point, and since when where Spartans trained to not show emotion? I didn't read that anywhere.

So were they trained not to before?

Emile is an Emo who listens to My Cheical Romance and cuts other people's wrists with his big knife because he hasn't got the balls do do his own, hence the kewl skull.

Spartan-IIIs were much more emotional. They were orphaned at the hands of the covenant and surely some of them hold nasty grudges, like emile.

Isn't it true that Kurt based the S-III's success off of the orphan's willingness to fight for revenge?

In that regard, the S-IIIs were trained to work off their emotions.

Maybe, but it explains it well enough. I don't care is it canon or not, it's the best explanation we have.

It's written by a fan.

What was the explanation again?Don't remember it :(

We all know it's non canon, when did I suggest otherwise?

[SPOILER]

He get's shot in the face by a Hog and Carter lets him scratch his lil' skull to hide the damage to his helmet.

It actually doesn't explain it that well. Emile had the skull on his faceplate before Thom died and Kat lost her arm, however Fistful of Arrows says he gets the etching after these events. I still love it though!

The author commented on it here, he said he didn't want a split second glimpse in the deliver hope trailer to make him rewrite his comic.

I wouldn't expect him to either. He's doing a great job, let him at it.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.
