I tried to download the free trial to see if the game will work. When i try to start the game its says please run DXDIAG. So i went and ran it. I read i one guide that i need to have all 3 of the things enabled that are in the display tab when you run DXDIAG. But only one of mine are enabled and the other 2 say not available. reinstalled the halo trial and directx multiple times i even updated my video card but still nothing. Any ideas

Sounds like you need at least a new video card, and perhaps a new pc.

What are your pc's specs?

If you don't know you can download cpu-z and tell us the processor/speed/core revision, motherboard, RAM, etc. The video card information can always be found in DXDIAG.

if only one thing was available, it was probably directdraw, and your video card probably does not support hardware accelerated direct3d graphics.

frankly, your computer isnt good enough.

I am not very Tech Savy but i will tell you what i found out when i ran DXDIAG.

Computer Name: Sony
Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional(5.0, Build 2195)
System : PCG-XG18(UC)
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Intel Pentium III processor, about 180MHz
Memory: 256 MB RAM
Page File: 279 MB used 338 MB available
DirectX: directx 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

I dont understand most of this but thats what i found in DXDIAG. Would i have to buy a new video card or could i just update my current one on the internet

Yea that was a typo it was 650MHz.

Here is what it says in the display tab:
The file neo20xx.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.
Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

in the device section it says:

Name: NeoMagic MagicMedia256XL+
Mannufacturer:Neo Magic corporation
Chip Type: MagicMedia256XL+
DAC type: MagicMedia256XL+
Total Memory: 6.0MB
Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768(24 bit)(60hz///0

In the drivers section it says:
Main Driver: neo20xx.dll
Version: 5.38
Date: 1/7/00
WHGL logo'd: no
Mini VDD: neoxx.sys
VDD: n/a
DDI: unknown

Yo i had almost the same problem as you did. But i went out and bought the game for my laptop. A 1.73ghz, 32 mb, 1024 ram, and its perfect but the Halo PC game still comes up with problems mainly on mine because of the video card. My question to you or anybody out there is how do you update the multiplayer thing on Halo? It says i have version 1.7 well then go the the Halo Forum (Here) and find it somewhere. You have any ideas on how to get it working? I have wireless and a dsl connection. But with your problem demos dont work well so you only will spend like twenty bucks for the game. Make sure of these things you have 1.2gb of space, a higher then 32mb memory card , and at least a lot of ram otherwise this huge game wont work on your pc. Somebody out there able to help me with my problem?

Unless you want to go out and spend a few hundred dollars you are pretty screwed for the time being. I suggest buying a new video card (I suggest reading the Buyer's Guide to Graphics Cards, though I admit I'm not sure how up-to-date the guide is at this point) As well, I'd suggest you go out and buy yourself some more RAM. For the time being though, you won't be able to play any Halo PC goodness. Sorry.
