Ok, this may sound strange, but there is an old EGM article about Halo 2, it was like the first one to come out. Its like 20 pages long, and has a hell of a lot more then any of the garbage everyone is worked up about. It was when they still thought the game would come out in winter 2003. It has a ton of information, such as about the brute and combo attacks. Also it had information about the playable elites, the ATV, the four different warthog types (snow, land, water, jungle) the carbine, the brute's slug gun. Also, they got to visit Bungie Studios and view tons of different levels and tests. They saw the low grav levels in which if you shoot the ground, you fly up in the air. They also CONFIRMED SEVERAL THINGS OF WHICH THERE ARE ARGUMENTS ON THIS SITE
there is a:
100% chance the flood return, quoted by a Bungie Studios executive
100% chance of another Halo
80% chance of the return of 343
The Bungie folks also showed EGM the prophet way before anything was being talked about it. One of the coolest things was the talk about a level in which a huge dropship, "the size of a city block" with TONS of marines in it, dropped down to a covenant base. It said that the marines file out of the ship as covenant blast at them, "like a scene from Saving Private Ryan." Some marines rush in at the base, while other snipers take ATVs up the hill to a good sniping position. If you decide to go with the snipers, or go somewhere other than the main path, you will be given the same quality of action, such as the snipers saying unique things. This sounds kick ass to me.
One other thing is that the mag said that one half of the game would occur on earth and the other half would be a front on the covenant. You will be attacking space bases and gas giants, and finally the covenant homeworld.
Another interesting point is the covenant phantom, but I will make another post for that.
