Because forerunners are a god-faction with very little solid information on their tech.

However people seem to just want to spam god-factions for Halo but lock out EVERYTHING superweapon/god faction like in Star wars.

These topics will ALWAYS fail without question if there are no rules.

They aren't a 'god-faction' thats usually used to refer to things like the Q in star trek or the Ascended Ancients in Stargate. The Forerunner just have some very useful tech.

It's a strange double-curbstomp situation going here:
Any major Star Wars faction would run roughshod over the UNSC and Covenant, they would be a speedbump nothing more.
The Forerunner could wipe out all life in the Corusca galaxy in short order, and no major faction in Star Wars could prevent it.

It's unfair both ways.

You act as if it isn't possible. It is, the Empire have done it on every other occasion.

Like their ability to build a new version of Centrepoint after they had years to study it? Oh wait....
Or their ability to reverse-engineer Yuuzhan Vong Biots, except they couldn't...
Even by the end of the war they had no idea how a Dovin Basal made singularities, and they couldn't replicate it, they just knew it did it somehow. And gravity-manipulation is hardly new tech in Star Wars, like slipspace-related tech would be.

Let's face it, if you are at the point where you have to reverse-engineer your opponents stuff to win, you've already lost. For starters your opponents already have that stuff, and probably know more about it than you do.

The Covenant and the empire form an alliance to take over the universe with an invincible fleet of star destroyers and CCS Battlecruisers. The end.

Vong. Not fong.

FUEGO, In the novels they use many tactics, you still ignore the fact in the movie, when focused on the fightercraft, the larger ships will appear slow and tactics/maneuvers they pull off won't be noticed as easily.

Also, bar droid fighters/ships, I'd like to see an AI like Cortana hack into ANY republic or imperial ship. A star trek ship I see it happening, star wars? Not so much.

Happy Ducks Swimming In A Lake.

I like them both the same. But because I played and watched star wars all the time when I was a kid. I have to say star wars.

And because of the wookies as well.

Another good point. How can the flood be a threat if there are Vong shapers around? (For those who are bringing that faction in)

If the lifeshapers couldn't do it... Then what makes you think that the Vong can?!

Humanity cured the flood. The Forerunners couldn't. Thus implies that the Forerunner aren't "Omg best" at everything.

The vong use organic materials/items for everything, I'd say they have a mastery of that area.

Humanity. It did not imply the San'Shyuum. Humanity. They didn't cure the flood, they just fought fire with fire BUT even then, I only think humans are capable of. If humanity is a brother race to the forerunners and they were both created by the precursors and the humans had the precursor and the precursor possibly unleashed it then, I don't think it's just something with technology.

Forerunners can place Geas, De-evolve. They had the technology to reproduce entire individuals from encoded DNA/RNA/silicon samples in data streams. Extract memories from the dead and brain patterns. They marry organic and mechanic to create biomechanic.

it's a close call but halo would win. i mean compare the long night of solace to the super star destroyer. And obviously halo has HALO they can just use the halo array to wipe out any
star wars character easy.

@Cmdr D: I see no reason why a Cortana class AI couldn't piggy back their way into any systems the Empire has aboard their ships. It will be heavily automated, they have the ability to send messages electronically and i believe they can even link ships firing controls together, ththose are all ways in for a smart AI. Even if its as minor as messing with sensor readings or reading their communications, i think UNSC AIs would be very effective in a universe were the height of AI is making a homo-blam!- robot.

As for the manouvering of Empire ships, i a saying they don't full stop, rather that they favour staying still and duking it out. Thats what i see from the films, i get your point about them seeming slow - but when was the last time they did anything like the Keyes Loop in the films with a large ship? Star Wars is fighter heavy. They can and have gutted those large ships in Star Wars. In terms of space combat i think Halo has the advantage, better use of ships and pilots with reflexes beyond any stormtrooper - especially if the flying of those single ships was left to an AI capable of doing 12 quadrillion calculations a second in 11 dimensional space.

A: I've never heard of ship firing controls being linked together. All the heavy cannons are manually controlled, and the rest can be as well. Star Wars ships, unlike others, don't rely on a central computer core to run everything. In Star Wars, hacking a ship just doesn't happen. Hacking a droid? Yeah.

B: Movies aren't the entirety of Star Wars. just like the Game's are not everything halo. Also, the UNSC has FAR more "stand and shoot" tactics then the empire uses. Because they have to keep the MAC cannon's facing the enemy, complex maneuvers rob them of their most powerful weapon. The Keyes loop, while impressive... gets to be done once. Even then, it wouldn't work due to the fact Star War doesn't shoot plasma torpedo's, and anything TRYING to fly over any Star Destroyer will be shredded by the heavy cannons.

Edit: Let's not forget the difference of weapon power. It'd take the entire covenant fleet... what, years? to entirely glass a planet. It takes Star Destroyers hours.
