The destroyed frigate fell down upon Altoro like hellfire. Hot debris destroyed skyscrapers and wrecked buildings. Civilians ran to safe areas like tunnels or the underground. Many ran like hell to evacuation stations to escape the rain of hot metal. One civilian called Mark Vernes got out of his car and ran through the dead traffic as the bridge of the UNSC Prophecy nose-dived for him. Pods were flying wildy through the air as they smacked the sides of buildings or landed with a death-crater on the street. The aft side of the frigate crashed down into the Cratarian Sea. There, small shrapnel pieces were flung unto the terrified civilians below. They screamed and ran for cover as Covenant Cruisers were in the air above the city's. Phantoms were sent out holding kill-teams and Spirits flew-dropping off PATRIOT Elite Pods. In a flash, the peace of Haven-Nova was violently ripped away by the Covenant. This was just one of the city's the Covies had flashed into. The fastest takedown of a city ever, was on November 31, 2549 on the planet Altoro. The defense fleet that was stationed had been blind-sided by the Covenant and were shot up before they could even return fire. Carriers destroyed the MAC platforms with a mini-nuke that was placed onto a boarding craft. The UNSC Secretariat had shot out all of it's ODST pods. The soldiers were too important to lose. It went down to the city of Haven-Nova and had decimated most of the city's grid. Of a group of pods, three were shot down in a nice angled path. They furiously landed with a huge blood-curdling THUNK onto the city streets. Pavement was cracked and gravel was viciously thrown around. Two pods were blasted open. Through an ODST's cracked HUD, you saw the soldier fall onto the cracked street. The ODST got up and picked up his Silenced SMG. Cars were blown up everywhere. Building windows were blown and street signs had been lifted off their nailed-on stands.
The ODST stood up and aimed his Silenced SMG. While he was getting on his feet, the other pod door busted open. The ODST jumped out and aimed her Silenced Magnum. The sun was going down and the streets were bathed in a deep blue color. The Female ODST ran up to you. A Pink flower had been painted on with masterful skill onto the side of her helmet. With a steady and powerful voice she said,
"Sanchez! You OK? Damn, your visor's pretty messed up. Can you still fight?"
Through the Sanchez's visor, he cocked his SMG and aimed it. The reticule aimed at her face.
"That's right, the silent but strong type right? Heh. *sigh* Perez didn't make it. We better leave now. Cruiser's spewing out troops and the're obliterating the city's defense marines and police force. Let's move out. Hold on, I see a building with a good vantage point, we could go there and find some frien-!"
She never finished. A plasma shot from a Phantom blew up a car next to Sanchez. Fire was everywhere. Sanchez's helmet had a huge hole in it. His HUD's visor was struggling to keep the faulty reticule on target. Sanchez looked over and saw the female ODST, named Anya, firing her Silenced SMG at oncoming targets. A pelican came in and fired at the Phantom, it turned around but smacked it's tail into a building. The debris buried the grunts and brutes underneath. The rest of the building collapsed and blocked the entire street. The Covenant forces had been blocked out. Anya pulled you up and said,
"Can you still aim right? Damn, we need to find out where that pelican is heading."
The green aircraft turned and went straight to the right. It's door was open and a turret had been placed onto the plank. On it was a police officer. His red helmet glowed with every flashing bullet that shot out of the barrel. He was firing the rotary turret at a banshee. Anya and Sanchez ran in the way of the pelican. The collapsing building had sparked a chain reaction, where the battered buildings fell onto each other, sending chunks of debris at you. Sanchez slid underneath a fallen street-pole and Anya slid across the hood of a red Street-Speeder. She kept running and Sanchez had a wall of rock block him out from Anya's location. He hurried into a collapsed building. Cracks of sunlight shined through the small nooks. The sun was setting fast. It was getting darker and Sanchez turned on his VISR. The building had instantly turned green and blue. The tiles were black and white with papers scattered everywhere. He walked to the staircase and saw dead civilians everywhere. Spikes were stuck in them. First Strike Brutes-Forces had been here. Sanchez ran to the roof and saw Anya. She was climbing up a red car. He was about to radio her and SPEAK when a Phantom came in. It set down and dropped of an elite patrol. An Elite Ultra and Officer had been dispatched with grunt ultras and skirmisher commandos. They hopped from roof to roof and sat with their needle rifles waiting to see something and fire. The Ultra and Officer began to speak to one another in Sang. while the grunts stood around them at guard. Anya had sunk into the shadows.A ghost was patrolling the streets and was floating peacefully when Anya rushed it. She used her knife and stuck it into the hull of the Ghost. With her free legs, she kicked the grunt off of it's seat. The blunt trauma killed it. Sanchez saw her speed at the Elites and grunts. The Ultra saw her and jumped back, but the Officer looked too late and was smacked aside, dead. The grunts were flung up and the Skirmishers fired upon Anya. Sanchez saw a dead marine with a sniper rifle next to the pool of red blood that surrounded him. He picked it up and through his broken visor, he shot the Skirmishers. All were confirmed kills as they fell to the streets. The Ultra pulled out his Energy sword and sliced off the wing of the Ghost. Anya was flung sideways. She landed on her side as she skidded to a halt. The Elite picked her up and threw her against a statue of a globe. The sign attached to the globe read: Haven-9- the ninth safest place on this planet! She weakly crawled up. Her pink Flower was covered in red blood and her armor had been ripped off by the fall. Her shoulder had been cut and was bleeding heavily. Sanchez was about to fire a sniper round to the back of the elite's head when the cry of a jackel was heard. He looked to his left and saw a jackel sniper specialist on the roof of an office building. It fired it's rifle and the blue streak of light punctured the unarmored head of Sanchez. He was thrown back and the rest was up to you to decide how he looked like. The screen switched to Anya's and her HUD visor was staring at the mask of an Elite Ultra. Her armored legs and boots were on their sides as they stretched out. The Elite's pig feets grew closer and it was about to stab her in the chest when a pelican came into view. Out jumped an ODST and a squad of police troopers. One charged the Elite and shotgunned it in the chest. His white and red armor body was then fired upon by the jackel snipers. The elite twitched and died. The cop ran to Anya and another helped carry her to the pelican. This one had a turret on it's plank. She was carried aboard and she sat down in the chair closest to the exit. The cops told her she was going to be fine. The pelican took off and landed on a building near the battle site. The pelican's forward gun blew up the concrete rooftops the jackel snipers were perched on. The pelican's Landing gear was brought out and it rested on the collapsed roof that Sanchez had sniped on. She looked over and saw a Spartan holding the body of a fallen ODST. It rested the soldier on his back and brought the ODST's hand to it's chest. Next to it was a sniper rifle. The armor-at Anya's horror-was Sanchez's. Next to the Spartan was another ODST. This one had a knife sheathed on his chest-plate and a comlink attached to his helmet. He held the Assault Rifle like it was a part of his body. It was Sgt. Buck. The view from Anya's cam went to Buck's.
His HUD was focused on the fallen ODST. His nametag read Sanchez. Corporal Sanchez. The Spartan stood up and picked up her rocket launcher. She placed it on her shoulder. On her Shoulder pad was the picture of a thorned rose. It explained her personality completely. The Spartan stood up and told Buck that they needed to move. Buck nodded and he recocked his AR. He walked torward the pelican and climbed on. The cop on the turret just looked down at the huge gun. Buck had spent 6 hours in the city and already had seen enough -blam!-. That's when he saw the bleeding female. She had her hands on her helmet's visor. She looked up to see Buck and she went back down to brooding. Then Buck saw the Fox Company Marker on her chestplate. The fallen ODST had also had this marker. He sat down next to her and placed his hand on her back. A sympathetic gesture. The Spartan walked on board and placed the Rocket launcher on the floor. Her EOD Commando visor stared at Buck, then Anya. It flashed blue and the Spartan's eyes showed. They a bright orange. She just looked down at the floor and the pelican flew away. Buck looked out the back hatch and saw a bright city. Full of extravagant colors and bright flashes. Those were plasma rounds being fired at incoming fleets of UNSC reinforcements. In just 2 hours, the city would be retaken. But still Buck wondered, at what cost?
