The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Mendez had a point.

The rest of the Spartan's would be concerned on his well being during missions and not entirely focused.

Then again, I'm sure they could have found some way to manage Soren into an active duty, even get him into rehabilitation for sometime like Kirk and Rene and Cassandra were.

I Have often thought he might have made a good "Headhunter-like" Spartan.

True. placing him in a lowly dead-end desk job seemed like a terrible waste of ability and skill.

Well other spartans they were messed up from the augs still made theories about slipspace and other stuff.

If i remember right Keys used the info he got from a damaged spartan to do the keyes loop.

I think it was Fhajad who wrote the paper Keyes read. As for Soren, if you're worried about him being a hinderence to the team, the obvious anwser would seem to be deploy him on missions by himself, like Noble 6.

Wasn't part of the problem he wouldn't be able to wear Mjolnir?

  • 05.04.2011 7:14 PM PDT

Signatures are for squares.

Soren was too large for MJOLNIR, that was the main issue.

Aside from that, Soren was even more unlucky than that story reveals. Halsey's Journal reveals that a few years after the Spartan II's "graduated" the program, she invested a lot of time and money into repairing the Spartan II's who "washed out" of the program in the augmentations. Had Soren stuck around, he could've ended up "fixed" and put into the field like he always wanted.

I do hope they expand on his story however, I'd love to find out what happened to him but it's probably one of those things that'll be left a loose end.

i dont see how he could have been put out into the feild after washing out, i think a desk job would be better suited, like Fajhad. still useful, but not slowing down their comrades

Agreed. It would be cool if, during the battle for reach, Soren initiated some guerrilla raids against covie forces.

But who knows.

I agree with this, apart from Soren's story being expanded. Soren's character died in that crash either physically or metaphorically, or possibly both. Let it go.

Ordinarily I would agree with you. However, Soren, unlike Fajhad, was able to function in at least some combat situations (He fought Randall-037 to a near stand still).

I could See another short story featuring Soren during the events of The Battle of Reach.

It would definitely be an Interesting angle.

Fhajads slipspace article determined that, when in close proximity, objects in slipspace can appear to readings by the recon drones as a single, massive object.

Keyes used this to predict the initial Covenant attack force at Sigma Octanus IV.

I'm not derailing, if that's what your getting at. I briefly posted my thoughts on Soren, first post.

I dont know, I did not really give much thought to Sorens case either. But I mainly belive he should have been put into a rehabilitation unit or treatment, instead of just meds to deal with pain. He eventually would have recuperated and been active for duty.

My Apologies, I should have noticed your Username.

However, I'm curious, where did you read/hear about that advanced "washout Spartan" rehabilitation procedures?

  • 05.05.2011 12:27 PM PDT

Signatures are for squares.

Halsey's Journal.

She outright says she's investing more time and money for the washouts to get more treatments.

It's assumed that this is where that "diverted funding" for the Class II's went. Rather than create a second class of Spartans, she "fixed" the ones she already had.

yes i forgot about that fight between them, however, i think that there would be various levels or deformities and disabilities due to washout, Fhajad's (or anyone else's) couldve been more severe

  • 05.14.2011 7:48 PM PDT

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

Do u support Leonidius' decision with that deformed Spartan?

True. Some washouts were put in Neutral-buoyancy gel tanks due to the severity of their deformities and or disabilities, including SPARTANS such as Kirk and Rene.
