Halo?
It seemed like it would have been a much more fun atmosphere to play in, and it would actually be a challenge.
Plasma weapons are so underrated in the games, its hard to play them.
Take this as an example:
Halo Reach, Plasma Rifle in hand, you shoot a guy until his shields are done, then the plasma does nothing to the suit, when he should be dead within 5 hits of it, without shields.
This would be Halo Reach if the book canon applied:
Shoot guy till his shields are out of the equation, then, shoot him 3-5 times depending on where, and he dies.
It would have made the Multiplayer alot more.... tactical.
Im posting this here, only because in Reach i would get 50,000 mad people threatening a backtrace.
At least (most) people here aren't hell-bent on slaughtering anyone insulting their favorite game.
Yes, I realize that what the games say, goes, but the games highly underestimate the power of the Plasma weapons.
Even the kinetic (Human weapons)are Underpowered, it shouldn't take that many shots to kill a Grunt!
The campaign would have also been much more fun and it would have added a realistic feel to each game.
(Yes, I do also realize Halo CE was released before the books.

Am i the only one who wished Bungie stuck to the book's version?
Nope.
I really hope 343i includes CASTLE base in a future map pack.

I like the idea of playing as a different group of Spartans and seeing an alternate side of the battle of Reach, so in a sense I'm glad Bungie didn't use the book's story. However, I would have much preferred if the entire Campaign took place in one day and didn't conflict with the book's events. The plot was halfassed too.

SC = Supreme Commander/Supreme Canadian.

De Facto leader of the military of the APE (Allied Planets Empire).

Coup = Admiral Asskicker, ZPM hive ship

It would take three shots to take down the shields, one shot from ANY plasma weapon to kill. It would suck on Campaign, Tyrant would probably ragequit the game.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

I would love to have played through the book in the game.

Wrong.
Nylund's The Fall of Reach was released on October 30th.
Bungie's Halo CE was released on November 15th the same year.

Anyway, the reason that plasma weapons arn't as affective as in the book, is because Bungie wanted the game to be balanced, and not the equivelant of a power weapon.
Have you ever noticed that Human weapons take longer to get a shield down than a Covenant weapon. However, when the shield is down, Human weapons are more effective.
Balance.

Must say, I'm amused how people mistook it.

The OP is talking about how powerful weapons were, not the events.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I actually liked the idea of Reach lasting for a month instead of a couple of hours.

But ofcourse, it wouldint make sense canon wise.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I liked the book's story about 1082823592385692365326512359237952936582359263956912675982198 5723975982759823592735987239629837598235698237598692365912038 5236589236589236589732895672389562398562938569823578237598732 9857239857289353985239852893568236582359237492387592375982375 892358923859719751235273958239575878572525729 times more then Reach's crappy campaign.

The aftermath lasted about a month, be it doesn't make sense whatsoever for the actual battles to last that long.

Anyways I do love the books every one of them, i wish we had a book for halo 2 and 3. ODST could have a short novel or something.

This would be great, but I hope they would use a hybrid formula between The Flood and Palace Hotel. It would tell the story of more of the surrounding events like The Flood, but won't have a play by play walkthrough of the campaign, instead giving a more "interpreted" version like in Palace Hotel.
