I haven't seen a single thread about this, but I'm really curious about this comic.

Has anyone bought this yet? I was waiting for the Hardcover to release so I could buy it then, but due to lack of funds I'm unable to buy it at the moment.

Has anyone in the universe purchased it yet? It's been out for a couple days now.

To those who do have it, how long is it? Any canon changes? What's new? I'm itching to dig into this but I probably won't be able to for another week or so.

**SPOILERS**

I have all of the issues. It's pretty much just the first quarter of Fall of Reach summarised. There are a few additions shown from the Insurrectionist's perspective, Colonel Watts mainly.

The only change to canon I noticed is in the Spartan's first mission to capture him. Linda is with the team in the comic as opposed to on a roof like in the book. Also the breaching into the room is different, I don't think they used an elevator shaft. And lastly, the thing I don't like, John gets injured in the process.

Anything specific you want to know beyond that I'd be happy to inform you.

Well those kinds of things aren't major breaks really...

Are any dates moved around? How many pages is the book? (And if you have the issues separate and not the hardcover, how many pages are all the issues together?)

I think there's more of a gunfight and alert once they capture Watts aswell, but you're right they aren't major changes.

As far as I'm aware the dates are the same as the novel but to be honest I can't remember. I have the single issues but not with me so I can't check the dates or pages just yet. I'll post it when I get a look at them.

Alright thanks.

I'm assuming it shows the augmentation procedures and such? We see Sam/Kelly/Fred/Linda/James/John's faces, correct?

  • 05.05.2011 11:22 AM PDT

Well, in the novel John does get wounded in the capture scene...

Not majorly, but he does get hit.

Really? It's been a while since I read that. Forgot.

Caboose, there is one or two frames of the augmentations I think and the Spartans faces are shown. Again, I can't remember specifics but I'm in the process of getting them back now so I'll let you know when I get a quick refresher skim.

Linda was with the team in the novel if I remember correctly. And John does get injured during the brief firefight in Watt's office, that I am positive of.

Yup.

Caboose, each issue is roughly 25 pages.

Is that each individual page or front and back(So rather than 100 pages total it's 50.)

25 pages as in 12-13 leaves, which actually sound quite short, I'll recheck. :P I could only get a look at the last issue before I had to go to my girlfriends so the others might be longer.

If it's 50 pages total or so, then it's about as long as the other three comic series'.

Yeah they're about as long as the other comic series.

Actually, all of that did happen in the book...

That is also in the revised book.

All that does actually happen. So it doesn't seem like they changed anything. We'll have to wait until the last part to see if the follow the books version of the Fall of Reach or Reach's version.

Dude, that gave me a lot of hope.

If the future comic series follow the book, than we can follow "new canon > old canon" and that would mean Reach is obsolete(if they follow the books dates.)

Can anyone give me a slight preface of what this book is about?
Actually, I never even heard of it.

^Do you mean Bootcamp? It's the Fall of Reach made into a comic series.

Actually it would change nothing :P Because 343i have referred to both the events of Halo: Reach and TFoR in their videos on Waypoint. And not altered in any way either. They might use it to connect the game and the book better, so there might be a couple changes to both perhaps, but from all I've seen 343i has the same position on Reach as Bungie.

I'll admit, I lol'd pretty damn hard at the thought of me typing furiously as I laughed like that.
