Regarding Fanfest:
I had my first last year, and let me tell you, it was something else. Yes, as Ceno pointed out, it got awfully warm when the fans were shut off, but in the long run, the heat was no big deal. All the Bungie employees you're used to just reading in magazines or web articles were there, more than happy to chat it up. Bungie prepared a special grab bag with stickers, and even an exclusive limited edition version of the 2" master Chief action figure. The Bungie Store was there as well, selling all the good stuff. A special RvB movie was played, as well as a documentary, we got to see the Halo 2 demonstration first hand, play Halo PC before anyone else, and play Halo with the guys that made it. There was a prize giveaway, a question and answer session, and a quiz for who was the most Bungie hardcore. There was even a small group of us that got to see Jaime, Halo 2's lead designer, screw around in the Halo 2 demo.
All in all, it was definately an awesome experience, one that I'd tell anyone and everyone who loves Bungie and Halo to try to attend.
Regarding E3:
This year will be my third E3. Each time I go, I feel overwhelmed for the first hour that I'm in the convention center. There's a ridiculous amount of stuff to check out! Plus, the publishers go all out for the advertising. Everywhere you go (Except Kentia Hall, heh) there are lights and sounds and plasma screens playing trailers. It's an incredible experience, and a lot of fun. If you're eligible to attend, I totally recommend it.
However, if you're eligible, and you haven't registered, yet, you missed the April 10th deadline and now you gotta pay at least $300 for an exhibition pass.
