Marathon was a huge innovation for its time, we got the ability to look up and down for starters...meanwhile id never managed that till Quake *shudder*. We had dual weilding shotties....lots of fun :) We also had to think which was a huge innovation, partically for those in the brain dead community out there who can't play anything unless its simple follow the line and shoot things. To have some utter nonce say it sucked because he's comparing a game which is probably many years older than he is, to games out today by the only benchmark he can, its graphics than he is a fool for believing his own mindless ramblings.
A good game isn't made by its graphics, they are actually low down in the list of things which contribute to what makes a game good. You need gameplay, and the ability to free move, think, and actually for once use your old grey matter between your ears. You also need a good story, and this is something again Bungie has never let us down with. Sound then contributes to what makes a game by it adding emotion, feeling and another depth to what you're experiencing. Then maybe graphics, if it looks pretty fair enough, but its not the be all and end all.
And you're complaining about Myth, which is not only still amazing, it created its own genre of an RTT. The graphics, the weather, the game play, the strategy was amazing and something totally groundbraking and out of this world, partically for the time and the speed of the machines we were using back then. I still play Myth occassionly, and its as amazing now as it was when I originally played it.
Pathways hmm, I dunno, interface wise it was kinda clunky but it was still great fun though...I sadly missed on Minotaur so I can't comment.
